Re: Giving them a chance.
CO2 is just a part of it. The bad boy is methane. I believe we've already passed the point of no return.

I doubt that we are passed it i do think we are are very close to it though.
Technically, we are not passed the point of no return when the whole system will spiral out of control. But it takes too much political bullshit to stop it now. That's why I said we are passed the point of no return.
The only way we can stop the process before it hits the point of no return, all conservatives have to be raptured soon... like now or tomorrow. What are the chances of that happening?
Until then, we will continue to see conservative obstructionist political games to instill doubt in people's minds about these things.
So, when you factor in politics and people's will or unwillingness to change, we are way passed the point of no return. It really will take nothing short of a miracle to stop the process from going further.

So, in your opinion Taz, are we just pissing on a forest fire with all this talk of CO2 capture and "reduced carbon footprint"?
It's not an opinion. It's a fact.
All this talk about reducing carbon footprint is nothing but a left wing political farce.
The real big bad boy is methane, which for millions of years have been trapped in the frozen tundra. Carbon can't actually tip the climate to change as drastically as has been predicted. It is referred to very often by people because it's easy to say in a minute's time. I wouldn't want to have to explain all of this to a lay person.
What all the carbon that we've been dumping into the atmosphere have been doing is causing the world average temperature to slightly increase over time. This slight increase is causing the glaciers to melt, releasing the real big bad boy, methane. As more and more methane are released, the green house effect gets worse.
In other words, climate change deniers are not lying when they say that our carbon footprints can't induce such a drastic change as scientists are predicting. They're right, carbon alone can't do the predicted damage. And in a debate, the average liberal tends to shut up because even he thinks it's the carbon that's doing the real damage.
Isn't ignorance great?
The best way to counter climate change deniers is to get the facts down to the detail. All this carbon foot print thing being a big deal is all political talk.
Added by edit.
The reason many of us believe climate change can't be stop like the CFC issue is because what's causing climate change exist in a wider spectrum than CFC. Back then, all they had to do was change to a different refrigarent chemical and voila CFC is abandoned.
Everything we do these days contribute to climate change. Even burning wood in the forest contributes to climate change. Farting contributes to climate change. Just about everything we do these days contribute to climate change. In order to stop climate change now, we need 2 things to happen:
(1) The rapture to occur! We need everyone like Buzsaw to go to heaven and leave us hell-bound sinners the hell alone.
(2) Everyone who got left behind must have the will to change. And this means less comfort with our modern lives.
Neither of these things are likely to happen.
