Although I agree with some of the premise, I think (it's a bit of a scattered post), the core problem with the argument is in the definition.

You have selectively chosen a quote which is vague on the definition regarding species. As I understand it, a parasite survives on a host of a
different species. On this point, your analogy fails as an embryo is the same species as the host, so the definition does not stand.
