I didn't know, but it doesn't surprise me.
The cynic in me wants to view this as a political stunt. I don't know enough about the guy to know whether his claimed reason was the true one. I suspect there's a bit of both involved. Either way, I can't think of a more effective response to Goode and his ilk.
