Trump
Message 68. Don't compare me to Trump, please, in really any context. That's a low blow. Just because you're more-or-less insulated from the negative effects of his candidacy and potential election doesn't mean everyone is, so cavalierly tossing around "You sound like Trump" may not be the best use of your privilege. Think about it.

Getting sick of Rrhains lies
Thread: Gay Marriage as an attack on Christianity

I don't know why he wants to bully me into pretending that his misinterpretation was correct, but certainly he seems to think that it is more important than saying anything useful

The active moderators seem to be participating in this thread. If the problem continues I'll recuse myself for a couple days and then resume as moderator.

Getting sick of PaulK's lies
PaulK continues to lie about what's happening in the Gay Marriage as an attack on Christianity thread (Message 513 and Message 516).

You will note, at least, that I continue to actually engage him in discussion (Message 706) whereas he simply whines (Message 699).

For an even better example, check out his post, Message 696, and see the response it generated, Message 698. Notice which one comes with the inclusion of references and complete quotes in full context.

There is a simple solution and it's entirely in PaulK's hands:

Engage or ignore.

Nobody's forcing him to respond. Ooh! We can have a contest! PaulK can simply stop responding and we'll see how long it takes before I bring it up again! I admit to having some inside information, but I'll claim "Never." Place your bets!

I don't have a horse in this race, so even though I've been participating in the thread it won't be a conflict of interest if I begin moderating now.

You suggest "ignore" as a "simple solution". But in the thread itself, you say things like

PaulK continues to run away
(from Message 711)

That seems to contradict the offer of "ignore" as a "simple solution".

Re: Getting sick of PaulK's lies
nwr responds to me:

quote:
You suggest "ignore" as a "simple solution".

Like I said: Let's have a contest!

PaulK simply stops responding to me. You do agree that that is simple, yes?

Let's take bets on how long it takes for me to bring it up again. I admit that I have some inside information on what I'm going to do, but I am choosing "Never." If he stops responding, so will I.

quote:
That seems to contradict the offer of "ignore" as a "simple solution".

How?

Are you saying that if he simply stops, I'll keep going? I'll admit that I do every now and then use bumps to try and remind people that they have run away from unanswered questions. I even did it to Faith regarding that very subject (which she still hasn't answered). But I get the feeling that if PaulK (and by extension, everyone else) were to simply consider me a lost cause and stop responding to that little bit about Faith's faith (after all, it's just him and me...not even Faith is involved in it and I can guarantee you that she'd be shocked to discover that I am defending her right to her beliefs), despite the fact that I'll consider him to have run away, I won't say anything about it. And if I do, I'll send him a bottle of wine from Temecula. Callaway Vineyard is really nice.

So how is his ignoring me not a simple solution?

Where's the contradiction?

Re: Getting sick of PaulK's lies
It's pretty obvious that some folk are simply assholes who are so picayune and insignificant that they have to characterize adults ignoring them as running away. But it that is what is needed to stroke their little egos it really is a small sacrifice.

I see your point. Lighten up, people...share some wine and dismiss the whine!

I admit that it is frustrating when people occasionally ignore my challenges...I am here to entertain myself as much as anybody. We all need to be taken seriously at least some of the time....

Sounds like a family argument to me.

New Thread Topic
I seem to have angered a MOD in a thread I started. I thought it was a stand alone topic in its own right. I wanted to see the issue discussed. I felt that the topic might enlighten us Westerners if we could have a discussion about straight history absent (what otherwise would have been continued) all the typical digressions into people's theological and/or personal opinions. A historian looks at what happened and not as much what one's opinion is. I felt a contained focussed demonstration by EVCers might have enabled facts to be laid bare. I did. I wanted to watch it with open eyes. But I would have stayed out of it. I do think it possible for gay marriage to be part of the fabric of early recorded Western Civilization and not counter cultural but I don't know for sure but it was a worthy topic IMO.

Re: New Thread Topic
Maybe you should write a comprehensible post to start the topic. The layout is a complete mess and the content doesn't seem a lot better.

Instead of complaining about the moderator perhaps you might write something that doesn't look like a very rough draft that accidentally got posted.

I noted MOD disapproval of me but that wasn't my point of the above post.
My point is that Faith (and her ilk )do seem to genuinely think that gay marriage chronologically post dates Christianity and that the issue is little more than a major swipe against the faith. I noticed that there is an ignorance of history that needs to be addressed before any real breakthrough can happen which chills the Faith's of the world out. She seems to think that Paul and Jesus never could have heard of such a thing as gay marriage so we couldn't expect them to condemn what they never had to consider. That might explain why Faith didn't give 1/1000 of a second's thought to Paul not challenging the legality of so-called sinful activity (soft or effiminate men means what? ) and that it can happen to be lawful despite the in context quote in I Corinthians 6.
