Re: Throwing up in my mouth just a little
Marco Rubio is heading to Iowa next week.
A little more baggage and he will be the perfect GOP candidate. Does he really think the racist base will support a furriner?

Tims
Tim Minchin
Tim Lincecum
Tim Duncan
Tim Hardaway
Tim Jennings
I've only even heard of one of them, and I would not say that Tim Minchin has achieved greatness. He's certainly the greatest Australian-born comic pianist in the world, and yet ...
Parents, don't name your kids Tim. It predestines them to a life of pleasant mediocrity.
---
I notice that you couldn't think of a single Jeremy who's achieved anything at all. Face it, I'm right.

Tim Jennings?
Really?
If he is a top Tim, than Doc has a good point.
Hardaway?
Good player. Very good player, but certainly never achieved mantle of great player.

I personally do not think that Clinton will be running. I think her stint as Secretary of State has burnt her out on the day to day politics..

Be willing to step off the cliff
jar writes:
Push the House of Representatives to address the fiscal cliff, make them raise taxes
This is crucial.
Obama should start negotiations with the GOP by making it clear that stepping off the fiscal cliff is preferable to any deal that does not eliminate or reduce the Bush tax cuts for the super-rich.
He does not have to face reelection, and higher taxes on the wealthy will not be a problem for the 2016 Democratic candidate.
We may never get another opportunity to cut the bloated Pentagon budget, and we face no credible military threat.
Democrats in Congress can immediately introduce legislation to ameliorate the impact on lower and middle income folks. If the GOP thinks holding the middle class and the economy hostage to ever greater income transfers to the wealthy is a winning strategy, let them face the electorate on that basis in 2014. This fight is about more than fiscal matters in 2012--it's about stopping hostage taking by a minority party of ideologues.
He spent most of his first term seeking bipartisan accords with the TP-dominated GOP reps. It's time to play hardball. He must not start negotiations by offering compromises before place settings are even on the table.
Harry Reid is fond of the dance or fight (and his preference for dance) metaphor--but the GOP won't dance until you draw some blood.

I think fatigue is one reason she's stepping down as Secretary of State.
That would diminish her appetite for jumping into electoral politics now.
A few years from now...not so much. I don't think her drive and ambition are the sort that just get switched off.

Re: Be willing to step off the cliff
I voted Democrats because I believe they will be more cooperative on global warming issues than republicans. I'm in a red state though, so I doubt it mattered much.
I'm also a progressive, and republicans seem to want to 'go back to the good ol days'.
Why has neither president brought up the fact that some scientists are saying current trends without action could lead to 75% of the planet dead by 2300? That’s my grandchildren’s lifetime. (my daughter will soon turn one years old.)

keep your mind from this way of enquiry, for never will you show that not-being is
