Hi RAZD,
RAZD writes:
But when you tell homosexuals outside of your church group that it is sin when their religion does not - then you are trying to impose your views on them.
How is telling them it is a sin that God destroyed 2 cities for trying to impose your will on them. It is a statement there is no way that making a statement is imposing one's will on another person.
President Obama said, "We do not have a spending problem".
He may have been trying to impose his will and wishes on me but he can't impose his will upon me or the facts that we do have a spending problem in Washington.

Re: The idea of "hate speech" is another infringement on religious freedom,
Hi RAZD,
RAZD writes:
It is, when you are telling them to change their behavior to suit your beliefs.
How is telling them to change their behavior to suit your own beliefs imposing your will on them?
Now if you have an apartment building and you have rented an apartment to a person and later that person moves a roommate of the same sex into the apartment, and you find out they are gay and tell them they have to change their belief or move, that is trying to impose one's will on another person.
But if they are unwilling to move they are trying to impose their belief on the person who owns the property.
RAZD writes:
With everyone pay a just proportion of taxes for programs that have been passed by the peoples representatives -- rather than starting unfunded wars like the schrubbia administration -- we don't have a problem. Most of the costs we see in the budget come from the war budgets, so we could cut those if we want to reduce spending.
I believe in a flat tax or no tax at all.
I lived in the Cayman Islands for 15 years and they have no income taxes, no sales tax, and a one time land tax.
Yet they have funds for their programs.
There is a set amount of duty on everything that is brought into the country which is added to the cost of products and when anyone buys those products they are paying a portion of that duty that was paid by the importer.
Thus they have a flat consumption tax in which everyone that buys anything is participating.
Until the last 4 years I was there the government had no debt but they decided to expand government like the rest of the world and borrowed money to do things. Which will mess up that country.
No country can spend more than it takes in. My state has to balance the budget every year. No money can be spent that is not covered by income.
To fix our problem there would have to be a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution. This would force the government to live within its means. In other words spend what comes in and borrow no money.
In fact we need to spend less because we have a growing 16.4+ national debt that needs to be paid back.
$1.4 Trillion dollars have been spent on the war in Iraq and Afghanistan including billions of dollars that was given to corrupt people in those governments that was diverted from the intended use to gains for crooked politicans.
But during the Obama administration we have gone from a 10.63 trillion dollar national debt to over 16.4 trillion national debt the day he started his second term. That is an increase of 5.77 trillion dollars and at the present rate will be over 22.17 trillion dollars. That is an increase under Obama of 11.54 trillion dollars which is almost a trillion dollars over double the national debt the day he took office.
We have a spending problem and there is no way to tax our way out of the problem.
Since the states do not get to decide how the money is spent why should they participate in such a ponzi scheme? By doing so they are doing their citizens a disservice.
Washington is out of control and a train wreck waiting to happen.
We must cut spending, else what are we going to do when the well goes dry and no one buys our worthless bonds?
RAZD writes:
Taxes are user fees for citizens to live in the USA, and those that benefit most from the economy etc provided by the government should pay more for that benefit.
Taxes are not users fees.
Taxes are funds that are extracted from the citizens to fund the lavish living styles of those in power.
Why do you think our congress does not cut spending?
The movement for disolving or leaving the union is because the Federal government has gotten to big for its britches and have begun to IMPOSE its will upon the states with impunity. Up until now no one has questioned the Federal government.

Hi subbie,
subbie writes:
So you think it's completely fair and a good idea if low income families have to pay 80% of their income in taxes while the wealthy pay less than 1% of theirs?
What kind of math are you using?
Obama says he wants everybody to pay their FAIR share. The way to do that is have a flat tax.
Let me do a little math.
A person makes $30,000 with a flat tax of 20%, tax = $6,000
A person makes $100,000 with a flat tax of 20%, tax = $20,000
A person makes $1,000,000 flat tax of 20% tax = $200,000
They all pay the same percentage of their income in taxes.
There could be tax credits for people with certain amounts of income in the form of what they paid in taxes be refunded. Not tax money that came from the other people.
In the Caymans there are no exceptions if you buy anything you are paying at least 20% tax except on medicines, and food.
It goes as high as 50% the cost of a Lamborghini plus 50% on shipping.

Hi Dr,
Dr Adequate writes:
Perhaps you could argue for that instead of just saying it?
I would rather argue for a flat consumption tax, which is what is used in the Caymans except for luxury items. Although everyone who buys those luxury items pay the same the percentage is just greater.
Even drug dealers, prostitutes, and gamblers pay their fair share on the underground money they make.

How about 50% on all earnings over $50,000.00 per year.
There are a lot of people that would love to just pay 50% of what they earn in taxes each year.
Many are now paying 63% of their income in taxes.
If you live in California and make 40 million dollars this year you will pay a total of $25,000,000 million in taxes.
What percent of what a person earns do you think they ought to be able to keep?

Hi Theo,
Theodoric writes:

Great to see you realize that the government is not a business.
That means that the government does not produce income.
All the income that the government has comes from the tax payers. To pay all the bills they make, all the people they hire, all the military. In other words every cent they spend comes from the tax payers. Which has dwindled in numbers in the last 6 years.

Re: 50-50-50-50
Hi Theo,
Theodoric writes:
Show your evidence for this assertion.
13.3% State income tax in California.
39.6% Federal income tax.
2.9% self employment tax of all moneys after 113,700 at 15.3%
2% personal property tax on airstream jet.value 60 million dollars
57.8% total so far.
1% to account for the 20 million over the 40 million income.
.9% Obamacare
59.7% total so far.
1.25% property tax on 6 million dollar home.
8% sales tax on all purchases.
68.9 cents tax per gallon of automobile gas.
Taxes on hotel bills
Taxes of food bills
Taxes on jet fuel aircraft burns around 400 gal per hr.
So yep all that should come to around 63% according to the tax accountant.
Figuring at 59.7% on 40 million tax would be $ 23,880,000 dollars
Figuring at RAZD 50% on 40 million tax = $20,000,000
A profit to the taxpayer of $3,880,000 dollars
A person as described above making 40 million dollars a year in Cal could move to Florida and keep 16.3% more of his money.
On 40 million would be $6,520,000 dollars per year.
Actually Phil paid a lot more as he made a little over 60 million in 2012.

Hi Rahvin,
Rahvin writes:
I live in California. I work as an IT contractor, and I'm paid pretty well. I make six figures. I pay, combined, around 40% of my income to combined state and Federal taxes.
I'm glad to see you got a good job. In your case the system worked because you applied yourself. But where you applied yourself there are hundreds of thousands who do not apply themselves.
I am also glad to see you appreciate what the system did for you and are willing to pay your 40% of taxes.
But would you be willing to pay over 60% of your earnings in taxes?
Rahvin writes:
But when I was eating ramen, I couldn't afford to pay 40% of the pittance I received - I would have starved.
When I got married in 1957 I was making $1.10 per hr and working 50 hours a week operating heavy equiptment. We never missed a meal. I had a vehicle that I had paid for by the time I was 16 from money I made working in the field.
When my first child came along I paid for all the expenses with no insurance or gov. help. But by this time I was making $1.25 per hr. Then my second came along and I paid for all the expenses with no insurance or gov. help. By this time I was rolling in the dough, I was making $1.50 per hr. In 1959 while working in Clewiston I received a pretty sever injury but continued to work. About 10 months after the injury I became unable to work. So my family and I lived off of $38 per week workman comp. I applied for SS disability and was refused. I was not able to go back to work until mid 1962. I returned to operating heavy equiptment really making big money of $2.25 per hr. In 1964 a man the company had hired to operate heavy equiptment who was drawing disability for being blind ran over my motor grader as I was blading a bad place in the hall road. He hit me from behind with a machine loaded with dirt which weighed over 200,000 thousand lbs traveling at 35 mph. I was in the hospital for 48 days when I got out I decided to go to college as I could not work. My wife took a job as I was only getting 45 dollars a week workmans comp. Again I was denied SS disability. I was not able to work for 3 years, so my wife became the provider. When I got out of school I promised myself I would never be at the mercy of a company or corporation again, so I started my own company. So what I have I got the hard way without any helping hand from anyone other than my wife. I owe no one a penny. My motto is if you can't pay for it you don't need it.
I have never drawed unemployment, used food stamps, or any government assistance. Until I began to draw my Social Security and then found out all the money that had ever been paid into the system had been spent by our government. There is nothing but a bunch of IOU's in the supposed lock box. The government owes SS three times as much as it owes China. So instead of paying the SS benefits out of the money that was supposed to be invested the government borrowed the money and pays 1% interest on it. So now the benefits have to be paid out of the money that comes in weekly from SS withholding. We have had 2 years that was reduced creating a bigger shortfall than we was having before the payroll holiday. Maybe that is why I come over so cynical sometimes.
BTW I paid SS tax and income tax when I was making $1.10 per hr.
Rahvin writes:
What would Jesus do?
The same thing I have always done and still do. No one in the church needs anything done that they don't get done and no one will ever go hungry in our church.
I am admonished to take care of my brother and believe in doing so. But everybody in the world is not my brother, only those in my local church.
