Re: First Amendment Violations
Except for Catholicism which is sadly mistaken for Christianity -- THAT's going to grow and acquire power.
I seriously doubt it. They've boinked too many little boys and told too many women that they should be popping out a baby every year. And they are having a terrible time recruiting new priests, as well - all the young ones here in West Texas are Filipino, which is a culture shock for both the priest and the congregation.
They're losing their grip, rapidly.

Re: First Amendment Violations
The more I try to explain the worse it gets in my experience. I DO need to take a break.
Please feel free to take that break. I've seen a couple of places in this discussion where you have indicated some wearing down, but you never actually seem to take a significant break. You've certainly adopted a minority position, and defending it has to be difficult. I for one, would not judge you for taking some time to yourself.

Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also in prison. Thoreau: Civil Disobedience (1846)
The apathy of the people is enough to make every statue leap from its pedestal and hasten the resurrection of the dead. William Lloyd Garrison.
If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground, they want rain without thunder and lightning. Frederick Douglass

I AM NOT IN FAVOR OF PUBLIC SCHOOLS AT ALL, PERIOD. I'VE SAID THIS I BELIEVE ON MANY OCCASIONS. PUBLIC SCHOOLS ARE A GUARANTEED WAY TO KILL THE CHRISTIAN FAITH OF CHILDREN. CHRISTIANS SHOULD NOT SUPPORT THEM AT ALL.
Check. Knowledge, intelligence, and critical thinking skills 'kill the Christian faith of Children..

Re: First Amendment Violations
EVERY TIME I SAY ANYTHING AT ALL IT GETS MISCONSTRUED IN THE MOST CRAZY NASTY WAYS I DON'T WANT TO SAY ANYTHING MORE. WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE TO TALK TO ANYONE THE WAY YOU DO?
Hum. Everyone always misconstrues what you say. Perhaps you are not formulating your thoughts clearly? It seems you always want to blame someone else.

Hi subbie,
subbie writes:
So you think it's completely fair and a good idea if low income families have to pay 80% of their income in taxes while the wealthy pay less than 1% of theirs?
What kind of math are you using?
Obama says he wants everybody to pay their FAIR share. The way to do that is have a flat tax.
Let me do a little math.
A person makes $30,000 with a flat tax of 20%, tax = $6,000
A person makes $100,000 with a flat tax of 20%, tax = $20,000
A person makes $1,000,000 flat tax of 20% tax = $200,000
They all pay the same percentage of their income in taxes.
There could be tax credits for people with certain amounts of income in the form of what they paid in taxes be refunded. Not tax money that came from the other people.
In the Caymans there are no exceptions if you buy anything you are paying at least 20% tax except on medicines, and food.
It goes as high as 50% the cost of a Lamborghini plus 50% on shipping.
God Bless,

"John 5:39 (KJS) Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me."

Re: First Amendment Violations
I don't know enough about Dominionism and Reconstructionism to get into their theology except that they seem to believe that the world is going to become Christian before the Lord returns, so that we are supposed to be working to make the world Christian, WHICH I DO NOT BELIEVE.
That is the question of pre-millennialism (belief that the Christ will return before the Millennium starts) and post-millennialism (belief that the Christ will return after the Millennium starts). Dominionist and Reconstructionists are post-mills while conservative/evangelical/fundamentalist Christians and many other Christian denominations are pre-mills; the Religious Right is very strongly pre-mill. Pre-mills vastly outnumber post-mills. This pre-mill/post-mill theological difference is a definite bone of contention between the two camps. Yet despite that basic theological difference that drives them apart, the Religious Right has bought into the post-mill political plan whole-heartedly.
Faith, why don't you bother to read what is posted? I already explained all that and you are complaining against the observation that your statements in this topic have been almost identical to the Dominionist/Reconstructionist political party line because you don't believe in post-millennialism. Nobody has been talking about that, but rather about their political plans that has become a fundamental part of the Religious Right's agendae.
Try paying attention for once in your life!

Re: First Amendment Violations
But in this case I feel like the "disagreement" has become manipulative and not at all just a disagreement but more like "do you still beat your wife" that is being invented and imposed on me and has nothing to do with anything I've said.
That is a complete and utter lie! We are trying to get you to tell us just what the hell you're talking about! And you refuse to clarify anything.
Go take your break, but use that time to do something really novel for you: think!
Think about your claim that teachers' religious rights are being violated. Come up with some actual examples to support that claim. Your ridiculous nonsense about teachers being turned in Congress is not an example. If you are not able to come up with any actual examples to support that claim, then admit it and retract the claim. If you cannot come up with any actual example and refuse to retract the claim, then be ready to explain why.
Also think about what it would take to implement the First Amendment so that our religious rights will be protected on all levels of government. If you do not believe that citizens' civil rights should not be protected on all levels of government, then start so clearly and explain why. If you do believe that those rights should be protected, then state so clearly and unequivocally.
It's as simple as that. Truthfulness and honesty, the things that you persist in fighting against.
You also now claim that you agree with James Madison. So show us. Quote from A Memorial and Remonstrance to illustrate what you agree with him on and explain why you agree with him. Simple, honest, and truthful.

Flat Assertion
Obama says he wants everybody to pay their FAIR share. The way to do that is have a flat tax.
Perhaps you could argue for that instead of just saying it?
