Re: Orwellian baseline?
Hi dronester,
As I said previously I am not going to sit here and try and defend the US previous actions illegal or not. I do not agree with what was done or why. Wrong is wrong regardless of what language it is in.
dronester writes:
Ukraine to have any NATO bases in Russia's backyard?
This is not about NATO bases in Russia's back yard.
This is about Russia seizing power, upsurping a sovereign country's borders air space and water ways to protect a tyrant and self interest.
This is about Putin shitting his pants because he and his ex KGB
cronies know the gig is up, we haz the interwebz now. People in eastern Europe are now embracing freedom over tyranny. People are wisening up.
As hyprocritical as my president is in condemning what Russia is doing, I feel he is right in his condemnation and Putin is wrong.

Yeah, no doubt. We certainly are in agreement here.
But when the condemnation comes from Kerry or Obama, it makes Kerry or Obama look like a million times worse than Adolf Hitler. Literally. (Since we are already talking about war criminals, bringing up Hitler would not be against Godwin's Law)

With Obama attacking Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, etc, airspace with illegal and immoral drones, I should think your american voice would be more constructive condemning american international violations.

I with you on this one brother. Fort Hood is as we speak is one of the the first bases to implement early ETS, and transition enticements into Army Reserves. We are war weary.
The only people who seem to want war are hawks, neocons and the Military industrial complex.

Godwin's law yep you confirmed it and it is only message 32.
Comparing Obama with Hitler is something I am use to since I live in a Tea Party conservative red state. Still waiting for the barb wire and construction of all the Death Camps to begin.

Oh I have enough condemnation to go around.

Good to hear 1.61803! You are a true patriot . . .

Keep in mind this does not mean we MUST criticize the president and that we MUST oppose him at everything he does. This seems to be the opposition's stance in congress when the president is of the other party. It also seems to be a major portion of the press's stance no matter who is president regardless of what is being done.

C'mon AZPaul3, I don't think Roosevelt was talking about a president's choice of a tie's colour.

Wow, what cheese are you smoking? Edward S. Herman and Noam Chomsky describe the U.S. mass media as, essentially, stenographers of power. Corporate news has become an unquestioning spokesperson for the white house. if only america had corporate media that protected the civil rights, liberties, international laws and treaties, and constitutional law when a president lied or acted criminally. Instead americans live in darkness with state-protected secrets like the Obama's/NSA's wire tapping and the Pacific Free Trade Agreements that secure only the investor's rights. Sheesh, if only one corporate media giant courageously reported that Bush Jr. was lying americans into invading Iraq, maybe a million innocent deaths would have been avoided. Roosevelt wasn't talking about being oppositional ALL the time, but, surely, being vigilant, questioning authority ALL the time.
An educated citizenry is essential to democracy. If you believe that Faux News, CNN, or any other corporate media is currently fulfilling a service for the people, and not the state power, you have the mindset like, sadly, 99% of americans.

The man who reads nothing at all is better educated than the man who reads nothing but newspapers.

I wouldn't think so either. Except you misspelled color.

Pragmatic Liberalism? Sounds like a gastronomical misadventure enjoyed by less discriminating palates at one of america's fast food joints, . . . Arby's?

I tend to spell it as colour too. My grandmother was the first person to teach my how to write, she was from Canada so I tend to have some weird spelling for the US.

Just noticed this news item: UN envoy forced out of Crimea by hostile pro-Russian crowd
Looks like the only ones behaving badly in Crimea are the Russians, and the only people in any danger are non-Russians. The Ukraine should go into Simeropol (Crimea, in case there was any doubt) and restore order.
