Re: Any real evidence for evolution, point on point.
i think its just the way their brain evolved differently to say remember the positions of all the fruit on the tree and the order easiest to get to all of them.

Christianity, One woman's lie about an affair that got seriously out of hand

What are the Christians gonna do to me ..... Forgive me, good luck with that.

Re: Any real evidence for evolution, point on point.
I hope no one is missing what's most amazing, because it isn't the rapidity of the touches. It's that the chimp looks at the numbers for only a second before hitting the circle that replaces them with white boxes. The chimp not only knows the ordering of the digits 1-9, he can remember them positionally after just a glance.

Me too, that's what I meant by "keeping up" with him/her. On some of them, the numbers go white before I can ever read them all, let alone remember which one was where.

Now, I'm sure that if I practiced a bit then I could get up to speed. But still, I'd probably be doing a bit of concentrating and if you watch the chimp, they seem so nonchalant and their performance is effortless. They're even kinda looking around not really paying attention as they're doing the task.

That really amazes me.

People are occasionally born with amazing talents, and since we're just animals it shouldn't be surprising that the same is true of animals. This chimp's talents seem similar in nature to a human savant's.

I wish I remember where I ran across the video. We were talking about chimps, in general, having a better visual memory than humans, in general.

That is, I'm not sure there was anything special about this chimp in particular, and they may just excel at tasks like these.

They don't smoke as much dope as we do.

Re: A real (k)
Settling this once and for all… a rate of 1.1 x 10-8 “mutations per base pair per generation”.

Then you can't use a divergence of 5% since that is not the number of mutations, but the number of bases that differ between the two.

Re: sfs in a vacuum.
Ask the authors of the papers claiming that you can add indels to divergence.

The authors of the paper can and do add them together correctly. That is why they get the proper divergence times.

The problem is that YOU can't add them correctly. That is why you get different results than the authors do.
