Re: doubt vs assurity
So, in your opinion, is there never any point at which a person could say yes, this is it, this is the truth and I'm staking my life on it?
Curiously, I actually wondered if you would respond to this.
Not terribly curious, really. I figured you had me in mind with your "arrogant flatulence" line.
Yes, I am absolutely sure that you cannot ever be absolutely sure .
I think I would probably have agreed with you back before I was saved. I don't think I could have imagined any kind of knowledge I'd stake my life on back then.
In Buddhist belief ALL is illusion.

Re: Knowable versus Unknowable
You really do step over homeless men, don't you?
It's easy to judge, but quite an endeavor to do much better...
Have you ever walked the streets of downtown Washington DC in the pre-dawn hours?
If you stopped for every homeless person you encountered on a short walk to those tall buildings on 19th Street from say 10th and L, you'd never get to your destination. You can avoid those homeless people by taking a different route, but that doesn't exactly result in housing a homeless person or feeding a hungry person.
I cannot remember ever literally stepping over a homeless man, but I have to admit to falling far short of the instructions in Matthew 25:31-46. Small wonder that dispensationalists simply blow off the whole thing as being strictly for Jews.

I don't like cashews so they're pretty close to the bottom of the list. Chocolate is necessary to my spiritual well-being and strawberries are an enhancement if not an actual necessity. Cashews are neither. However, a complete absence of cashews would not necessarily make the world a better place since my spiritual well-bing is also linked to the well-being of other people, who may like cashews.
And where does vanilla ice cream fit in all of this ...
I considered saying vanilla instead of cashews. It's above cashews but below strawberries.

What was the purpose of the video?

Re: Knowable versus Unknowable
I think you missed my point.
Ringo accused Phat of stepping over homeless people. Phat posted a video of some other guy who doesn't step over homeless people.
I was challenging Phat to show how someone else's treatment of homeless people has anything to do with his own treatment of them.
I know for a fact that Phat actually volunteers his time for others; which is probably more than can be said of a lot of folks on this forum. So I'm not judging Phat based on the amount of help he offers or doesn't offer homeless people.
I'm judging him based on his typical irrelevant responses.

Love your enemies!

Re: chocolate vs strawberry
The higher the chocolate-to strawberry ratio the better (though there may be a practical upper limit).
For me the strawberry content would be best at homeopathic concentrations. I have developed an aversion due to having too much artificial strawberry flavoring forced on me as a child. This also has affected me in the way I see pink.
I don't like cashews so they're pretty close to the bottom of the list. ...
Nicely roasted they can enhance a number of dishes (one is an 8-jewel duck where they are one of the jewels), but I don't care much for them raw.
Chocolate is necessary to my spiritual well-being ...
Must have vitamin chocolate.
But are we talking real chocolate and not the milked down version? Have you gone to the dark side? A small piece resting on your tongue is bliss.
I considered saying vanilla instead of cashews. It's above cashews but below strawberries.
Of course it has to be real vanilla bean vanilla ...
Enjoy
