Re: Laguna Beach
No evidence, just impressions.

I asked her why she thought there were protestors being brought into town and she wrote me this:

Myself and others here in Laguna noticed on Friday the traffic and "tourists" were looking a little different than usual.  The tattoo art is of a different content.  All the hotel/motel rooms are rented this weekend, which is not the norm.  The authorities have prepared for these "protestors" by bringing in back up.  It's interesting to live where something like this happening.  Talked to a shop owner yesterday.  She is from India.  She was/is afraid.  Lots of helicopter activity.

Laguna Beach must be rather a sleepy place if she thinks it's interesting to have something like this happening.

Not much seems to be happening yet, maybe it will all fizzle out.

Personal account of interaction with BLM in Boston. Don't read it, Faith, it doesn't fit your make-believe.

Re: Laguna Beach
So, all you know isthere's more people in town and you assume their affiliation and intentions and post a hysterical screed attacking them.

Jesus would be proud of you.

Re: Laguna Beach
Nothing hysterical about it, just a reasonable supposition that if there's going to be a right wing rally there are going to be Leftist "protestors" brought in, cuz that's their m.o. This kind of thing has been going on since Trump was elected but also before.

Re: Laguna Beach
But this should reassure you:

You know, I'm getting information that both sides of the protest are "tourists".  It is an anti-immigration protest.  The tattoos being noticed look like skinhead tattoos.  So, I would say there are pro Trump and anti Trump representatives in town.

Re: Laguna Beach
That's not their motivation. How is your search to support your calumny against BLM going? Bet you haven't done anything.

All that extrapolated from more unidentified people in town. No, that's not a reasonable supposition.

Re: Laguna Beach
I considered that, but it seems like pretty weak evidence.

Does it affect your interpretation of there being more people in town?

Re: Laguna Beach
The news story I linked somewhere back there was of anti-rally protestors lining the Coast Highway. Then it turns out skinheads had also decided to show up there. Looks to me like both showed up for the event.

Re: Laguna Beach
Not yet. But since they formed in the first place on the basis of all those incidents I referred to earlier which offer not a shred of justification for any kind of protest, AND they have on at least one occasion chanted threats to murder cops, until somebody told them not to, there's no rush, I'll get to it when I get to it.

Re: Laguna Beach
Will you continue to claim that they foment violence and hate as a matter of course?

If so, there's a rush.

Unless you don't care the slightest about truth.

Re: Laguna Beach
And from that you got:

quote:
Anti-"racist" protestors apparently, I guess to squelch another moment of free speech planned for tomorrow. Then I found a news story about it. So again we've got protestors against, not white supremacists, in this case just Americans who want to call attention to crimes committed by illegal aliens. Can't do that, it's "racist." Can't rule our own borders, that's "racist."

Every claim is false and not supported.

quote:
And they apparently get paid to go wherever anyone thinks otherwise and prevent them from saying so.

No, Faith, they don't get paid by anybody.

Show us the evidence or retract.

Of course you'll do neither.

Re: Laguna Beach
My main question is, why Laguna Beach to stage a rally? It doesn't make any sense to me.

First, Laguna Beach is geographically isolated. There are only three ways to access it: Pacific Coast Highway from either north or south having to wend its way through all kinds of beach communities that cannot withstand much in way of traffic volume, and the canyon road which likewise is very limited as to the amount of traffic volume it can handle. Why stage a rally where it's so difficult to access? Why not somewhere else that your throngs can easily get to?

Second, Laguna Beach has a long history of being an art colony, therefore not likely to be of the alt-right persuasion. In the Sixties, it was a center of hippiedom and for decades thereafter the annual Sawdust Festival has continued to reflect many of those same inclinations.

So for these far-right groups to organize such a rally in Laguna Beach seems far too similar to the American Nazi Party's decision to stage a parade through Skokie, Ill, which was strongly if not predominately Jewish, obviously with the intent of citing a violent reaction that they could publicize and propagandize.

Indiana Jones on several occasions: "I hate Nazis!"

There is a difference between the right to free speech, and violence and intimidation when doing so

Re: Laguna Beach
The problem is it's hard to get information that's trustworthy, but I THINK it started out as a local thing, and versions of it have been happening in Laguna over the last four or five months or something like that. A guy with the name Johnny Benitez is said to be the organizer of them all. He says he's from Colombia and came here legally and objects to the illegals. But then if you look him up you find out he's got other aliases and has been involved in quite a few pro-Trump events although he also has Socialist connections and lately white supremacist connections.

It seems to be more or less a standard pro-Trump rally but this time it was expected that some white supremacists would get in on the act and that drew the Leftist counter-protestors. It's not all that easy to figure out any of it I'm afraid.

It's going on right now on the beach according to some headlines I've found and the first report was of a peaceful rally, but then the usual shouting matches took over. By now who knows what's going on, I'll have to check again soon.

I can't copy the stuff I'm finding for some reason but it's all at "Laguna Beach Rally" in Google.

Edited by Faith, : No reason given.

Re: Laguna Beach
Still no support for your hate speech?

Good thing for you the U.S. has no laws against hate speech per se.
