Lord, you're gullible.
She's not gullible, gullibility is passive; she's actively seeking out this crap and rejecting evidence she doesn't like - she's a motivated thinker. Pretty much the archetype of it.
quote:
The processes of motivated reasoning are a type of inferred justification strategy which is used to mitigate cognitive dissonance. When people form and cling to false beliefs despite overwhelming evidence, the phenomenon is labeled "motivated reasoning". In other words, "rather than search rationally for information that either confirms or disconfirms a particular belief, people actually seek out information that confirms what they already believe".[2] This is "a form of implicit emotion regulation in which the brain converges on judgments that minimize negative and maximize positive affect states associated with threat to or attainment of motives".[3]

Ever hear of Alternative Facts?
Sure, alternative facts feed motivated thinking.
The more crap that's fed into the intertubes, the easier it is for bigots, idiots and fundamentalists to find the garbage they need to support their crazy beliefs. All facts are equal to them, they just choose the ones they like and don't try to validate them.
Trump can say anything - literally anything - and it becomes a 'fact' to these people. He knows it. Unfortunately there are more stupid people than clever people but they all get the same vote.

The Achilles Heel of a true Democracy, alas. But the alternatives, such as a Meritocracy, are subject to even more corruption.
Yeh, that's why we should spend whatever it costs to educate people and be very careful what questions we ask them.
