The EU is buying a load of soybeans in exchange for Trump dropping the tariffs on steel and aluminium - CORRECTION, apparently those remain in place but the threat of further tariffs has been dropped.. Now we know why Trump went for that deal.
It sounds like it, but the EU tariffs on US imports also stay in place, and he has dropped the threat to escalate. And I’m not so sure that shuffling the soybeans around a bit differently is going to cost the EU much. I doubt that the Chinese demand for soybeans will drop significantly, they’ll just get them from elsewhere.
