Re: What's The Point?
Hey Ray,
Can you fix a long link for me?
http://groups.google.com/group/conservapedia-the-truth-about/web/how-the-l-a-times ... etc
or
How The L.A. Times Outsmarted Conservapedia and Andy Schlafly (Second edition)
type: this message is linked to an url
and it becomes: this message is linked to an url
Long urls force the page to be wider than the screen, and thus make reading the posts difficult. Please edit the one you have in Message 153 so we can read the page.
Thanks.

Re: What's The Point?
Even though the link is absurdly long, the horizontal scroll bar ...
For some reason it doesn't appear for urls on my little laptop either.
and on my computer screens a wide screen does not appear, BUT I will nonetheless do as you ask.
Thanks, that did it. I used to be able to use "reply" to read posts that were wide but that doesn't work now (not for the one with the urls anyway).

Re: Will we even know what ID is ?
but we all agree on one major point -
So you will be united in denial of evidence, but won't have any unifying vision.
There is no reason to teach that belief system to kids as if it is fact if it is not proven to be true.
Well so much for modern medicine, physics, chemistry, metallurgy, computer design ... I guess that only leaves ...
... ignorance.
Enjoy.

Rephrasing the Topic
In Message 1 the topic is laid out:
quote:
I just do not understand what vision they have of the future the U.S., if they are successful and their odd view of science education becomes the law of the land. Would science classes end up consisting of the kind of materials that are on display in the various creation/ID so-called “museums” i.e. dinosaurs and humans co-existing? These seem to ignore all the evidence, observations and conclusions that scientists have labored to use to describe the natural world for the past 150 years, so I assume none of that will be included in the science curricula.
So let us try to imagine what America is like 20 years after the creation/ID science curriculum becomes the law of the land.
So the question is what education will look like in 20 years if creo\ID proponents get their way.
Let's cut to the chase and assume that the teaching of evolution is banned (whether it is valid or not -- just for the sake of the argument), the question is what has replaced it?
What do you teach in biology?
ID claims to be scientific, so there would have to be some kind of science involved.
What would that science look like?
If science is redefined in the process what would that definition be?
Finally, how would you validate the reality of the concepts?
Note that you can't teach that evolution is false or that there are controversies involving evolution, because evolution has been banned from education.
What do you teach?
Enjoy.

lesson #1
There's been plenty of work done verifying the self-evident fact that randomness does not produce complexity.
What is complexity and how is it produced?
You are now teaching the next generation the ID science of biology. How does ID define and explain complexity?
Enjoy.

Lesson #2
We are now 20 years into the future. The teaching - even the mentioning of evolution - is banned, and "ID science" is the topic being taught.
ID says it is not good enough, the fossil evidence does not confirm the evolutionary hypothesis. how did the cambrian explosion occur.
The question is -- how do you explain all the fossil evidence? What is it and how did it occur?
If you say that naturalistic explanations are the only ones that are allowed, you may have shut out what really happened -is that science?
So what -- according to the "ID Science" curriculum -- did really happen?
How do you validate that reality?
Enjoy.
