Phat at "Afghan Christian released"
Author: Phat
Forum: Coffee House
Thread: Afghan Christian released
Message: 47
Phat quotes part of the Dwight D. Eisenhower "Military Industrial Complex" speech. Wish this was a topic in itself.
Side note: Bad Phat! No link given to the webpage you pulled the quote from!
Addition comment: Somewhere on public radio I heard that an earlier draft of the speech had instead the phrase "Military Industrial Congress Complex".

Re: I wish I wrote like this
Thanks schraf, that's a nice compliment to have paid me Though I wouldn't recommend adopting my writing style - it can be quite repetitive and redundant; it often repeats itself. In my opinion my writing has a general tendency to be overly tentative which probably makes it difficult for some readers.
abe, taking on board Percy's advice: I'd also like to thank my mother, my partner, all my friends and acquaintances, and I'd like to say nyah-nyah to every teacher I've ever had whose complaints about my penmanship (and comparisons to an ink covered spider drunkenly making its way across the page) turned out to be irrelevant in the computer age.

Are you *sure* you're tentative? Maybe if you said it a few more times...
We have too many people here who don't know how to accept a compliment. The proper response is, "Thank you! I'd also like to thank my mother, my wife, all my friends and acquaintances, and I'd like to say nyah-nyah to my 3rd grade teacher whose complaints about my penmanship turned out to be irrelevant in the computer age."

Jars argument lays itself wide open of course but the cuteness of RR's response lies in the fact that it not only rebuts the point completely but in even less words than the original. Neither should be proud. Really a matter for a Potm-lite nomination

Hey Percy, thanks! Have felt a bit dry recently but think I'm coming back to form. Touching base with Eta has inspired me a little (professional rivalry I'm sure!) Cheers
