No it is not a cheap shot. I'm pointing out what it is you are doing. LOOK AT YOURSELF!
You've declared your intention to go on spreading anti-Islami propaganda. Your hatred of Catholicism is obvious.
And you don't care about facts - you'll quote any source that supports your prejudice without considering the other side or doing any reasonable investigation.
I'm being considerably "nicer" to you - and with less reason - than you are being about YOUR targets.
Did it ever occur to you that Islam is a major religion and can't be judged by the behaviour of the fanatics ? Doesn't Christianity have it's own crazies like David Koresh ? Hell you've already argued that we can't judge Calvinism by Calvin's own actions !
And what about the points I raised agaisnt your "moon god" claim ? Ignored! What you mean by "be nice" is "stick to facts so I can ignroe them and carry on posting lies!".

Buzsaw,
...........And attributed to 200 years of blessing to the planet's finest nation ever, by every past generation of the majority of it's citizens prior to yours, whose school history books have had the facts either deleted or revised to suit the mindset of that liberal elitist minority who've taken over the educational establishments of the nation's schools.
Utterly, utterly irrelevant, even if it were true. You claimed, as if it were some sort of falsification, that "Allah" was a less-than-the-one-true-God-because-he-was-a-moon-God. I pointed out this exact same situation existed for your God, namely, the God of Battles.

What facts, PaulK? Open a thread and apprise us all of them. What prejudice? Please document. What investigation have you done to back up these charges? Are facts about various religions, with the exception of my own, to be considered so sacred by some of you picky pernickity people, so as to be considered to be a problematic provocation perpetuated by opposing persuasions? Can you folk of scientific mindset demand exclusive truth to be adhered to in scientific discussion, all the while insisting that a hundred different views should be tolerated, accepted and coddled by religious folk? Hmmm?

Is it that you think the religion presently sponsoring nearly all the global terrorism, including heavily damaging our own economy, property and the lives of our fellow citizens should have a free ride here in America??
yeah, you're right Buz. We definately need to get Christianity out of our society. Maybe then we can apporach a level of civilization like they have in Scandanavia.

Oh please, we ponly need to look at you behaviour in this thread to see the problem. You'll condemn Islam or Catholicism at any excuse but if equally good evidence comes up against your side you'll handwave it away.
FACT : Calvinists killed Michael Servetus for heresy - Calvin endorsed this and wrote a book in favour of executing heretics. How is Calvinism less guilty of executing heretics than Catholicism ?
FACT : I pointed out problems and other sites dealing with your "Moon God" claims. You ignored them, to instead "answer" one small part - my request as to the location of the original site. And you even ignored the REASONS I gave for wanting to see that.
It's all here in this thread.
The whole point is that you aren't INTERESTED in the real facts. You just want to promote claims that agree with your prejudices and hand wave away facts that contradict them. And then you complain when YOU get criticised.

God by Any Other Name
Imagine: me missing your presence here! Welcome back to the gauntlet.
I believe I now understand why you characterized my quotes from Job as "primary supporting text," in msg. #70 {The Bible, Accuracy and Inerrancy - thread - Any Comment W_Fortenberry?} You may have called that correctly, because there is no text which says,
"Hello reader from the future: we're using a lunar calendar that's gonna seriously mess with your head."
buzsaw writes:
With Islam's Allah emerging as a contender here in America, the 'chickens are coming home to roost' in the confusion being caused by carelessness of translators in failing to translate what is actually written in the ancient texts concerning the name of the god, Jehovah, being America's predominate god for so long.
Now there's a very long sentence with at least four subjects and not one verb!
1) Islam's Growth Rate:
May the best god win.
2) Careless Translation:
Perhaps not as careless as one might think.
3) What's Actually Written (RE: The name of God):
The earliest translation of the Hebrew text assigns the Greek word Kurie where YHWH appears in the Hebrew. Kurie was an appellation of the Emperor of Greece at that time; an appelation which translated quite nicely to the English word LORD, an appellation of English kings. The imperious attitude and bloodthirsty policies of YHWH led naturally to this comparison. Interestingly enough, the Greek speaking Hebrews of Jesus day assigned to him this same appellation; a word which was included, in abbreviated form, in the name of virtually all kings of Israel. In short, YHWH is a title, not a name.
4) Jehovah God of America:
America has never considered it appropriate to follow all the rules and regulations laid down by this god. It is, in fact, illegal for the U.S. to enthrone a King.
This same name has been, in pre-Islamic history, attributed to the moon god, major god of Mohammed's ancestral tribe.
The same could be said of the pre-Judaic God. Abram's ancestors most certainly worshipped a moon-god, and when YHWH came along, he embodied all the attributes of that god. He rose, he set, he shined his face, or turned it away. He lighted the world, or dwelt in darkness. He ruled the rising sea, or caused its waters to recede from the land. His title was simply inserted into much of the poetry which had originally been written to the moon-god. Today we might call this plagiarism.
This in way off topic, and I likely should have waited to post this, but some food for thougt until a thread is initiated on the subject.
Yes, it is off topic and I believe your attack on Islam has met, and will continue to meet, the most vehement and appropriately disapproving opposition. Much more appropriate, I think, would be an attempt to reconcile yourself to the horrendous character of Yahweh himself, and decide whether that is the kind of god with which you are comfortable.
I wish only to serve the god of: good-pay-day.

Doc, it's been 50+ years since I took English grammer in high school, but if my recollection of the definition of a verb is in tact, I count two verbs, i.e. "coming" and "written."?? Educate me here, or has English grammer also been revised by the school book revisionisists since my days?

Scuse me, Doc. There's also "translate," being the third verb there, I believe.

.........Well scratch "contender," being more descriptive than verbal. Anyhow suffice to say, there's verbs aplenty there IMO.
