I have to ask you: Biblically, where do you get the idea that "do something" means anything but "try your best"?
That's the crux of your whole misunderstanding here. You depict a God who sets us up for failure, then comes riding up on His white charger to offer us the "gift" of salvation. That's the vainglorious God that jar has been trying to educate you about.
Once and for all, show us Biblically where God requires us to do the impossible.

People who think they have all the answers usually don't understand the questions.

You have been given lots and lots and lots of Biblical backup by lots of people here. Yet you choose to waste everybody's time with semantic babble. Don't you think that suggests to people that you don't have much of a case?
One doesn't know whether to laugh or cry.
I'm doing the best I can. Are you?
Nope, I most certainly am not doing the very best I can. Neither are you. You call my challenge to go out and invite a tramp in 'semantics'. I'm sure that will provide a glimmer of warmth for him tonight. That will sure fill his belly to full. The reason you don't ask him in tonight is the same as mine: selfishness. You don't want a tramp in your house any more than I do. Not because you can't but because you won't. This is not stormin' machine gun nests Ringo, this is cowering in the trenches. And I'm right there beside you
Luckily, trying has nothing to do with it..

Re: have you given up on discussing post 203?
okay.
Now is there anything in the isue of repentance that mentions, requires or suggests the need for belief or the profession of belief?

Re: have you given up on discussing post 203?
Nope. But there was no mention of Gods existance either. Some things one has to assume. Belief that God exists and that he is the one from whom we ask forgiveness are two that spring to mind

Re: have you given up on discussing post 203?
that has nothing to do with the current discussion. We are discussing repentance.
Is there anything in the process of repentance that requires, suggests or contains the belief or profession of belief in GOD?

Read the OP Ringo. The ball is in the 'try-ers' court.

Re: Righteous vs Unrighteous
Simple RR. He meant try to be perfect as your father in heaven is perfect. It's simple really: where ever you see a command-style word, insert the word 'try' in front of it.
Although it won't work anywhere else in life: over the top, 30 mph, don't trespass, keep of the grass...it can work in the bible. For reasons that 250 odd posts has failed to reveal thus far...

Re: have you given up on discussing post 203?
Sorry, now I get you. We're talking about repenting to self. In that case no belief in God or existance of God is necessary.

You're not paying attention. I told you I am doing the best I can. Are you accusing me of lying?
Now, show us where it says I have to do better than I can.

Is there any other form of repentance? Can I repent for someone else?

The ball is in the back of your goal, as anybody reading this thread can see. You've got less than forty posts to try to get it out of there.
