This thread is intended to answer anyone's questions about Jesus, the Bible and Christianity in general. I don't claim to have all the answers, I just want to provide answers through God's Word to those who are searching. Please don't argue in this one, because you won't change my beliefs, no matter what you say.

Jesus 101
As an addendum:
Nobody will be allowed to scoff at your beliefs, and you will have the opportunity to support them using scriptures from the Bible.
People will, however, have the opportunity to present other scriptures which may support differing interpretations from your own.
Does that sound OK with you?

Re: Jesus 101
I will allow people to present their own beliefs, I cant stop them, can I? They can have their own interpretations, but this forum is also mainly for their questions, which I will try to answer scripturally. I thank you for your input, advice and care.

Re: Jesus 101
Thanks for your reply. Before we get started, I want to ask you to share with us a bit about how you have been taught. Was it from a Christian school? Do you read the Bible yourself, often?
What type of church do you attend?
You don't have to answer all of my questions, but in order for your topic to be more honest and enjoyable it would be good for you to share with us what has strengthened your faith.
Tell us about how you met Jesus Christ.

Re: Jesus 101
I have grown up in the Seventh Day Adventist Church. I went to a Christian school, and I do read the Bible and pray often. I guess I met Jesus as soon as I could listen and understand, so I have learnt the Bible as I have grown up. That is not to say that I have never strayed from Him or done anything wrong. Following Christ means that you have accepted his gift of eternal life and his forgiveness, not that you are perfect. Romans 6:23 'For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.'

And now let my non admimistrative altar ego start the first reply...............

Your first sentence will instantly stereotype you as a fundamentalist who refuses to respect other peoples experiences. This will, in turn, cause a lot of people to question whether or not you actually have any answers that they can use.
For now, I'll start.
I need answers to the following questions:
1) Why do you believe that the Bible is true? Is it because of what you have been taught, what you have experienced, or what you have chosen to believe as an anchor to your chosen beliefs?
2) Is Jesus alive today? If so, why is it so hard for some people to accept this?
3) If somehow, all of the Bibles on earth vanished, would God still be able to speak to His people? Who are His people? Does God love everyone or only those who love Him?

4) Had you grown up in India or China rather than America, would God still have chosen you? (Or do you believe that you were chosen? If not, my question is whether the children who grow up in other religions and cultures have the same chance that you have had to believe as you do.

And it's a new world record!!!
Phat, you do realise that every single question you have asked is off topic?
This has to be some sort of record.

Why do people accept Jesus as the Messiah promised in the Hebrew Bible, when Jesus didn't fulfill a single messianic prophecy?

Hi, gen. Welcome to EvC.
Please don't argue in this one...
You do realize that this is a debate site, right? Whose purpose is so that people can debate points, right?
-
...because you won't change my beliefs, no matter what you say.
Change your beliefs about what? Why do you think anyone wants to change your beliefs, especially when no one here really knows what your beliefs are?
-
Look, Brian, I'm off-topic too!

In many respects, the Bible was the world's first Wikipedia article. -- Doug Brown (quoted by Carlin Romano in The Chronicle Review)

Purpose
This thread is intended to answer anyone's questions about Jesus, the Bible and Christianity in general.
The title of this thread is "What you want to know about Christ". My question is actually about the Bible, but I think your quote above says I can ask about that?
Anyway, my question is:
What is the purpose of the Bible?

Would Christ have condoned the extermination campaign by the Israelites on the Canaanites? For example, and specifically, would Christ have condoned what the Israelites did to the people of Jerico?

Disclaimer:
Occasionally, owing to the deficiency of the English language, I have used he/him/his meaning he or she/him or her/his or her in order to avoid awkwardness of style.
He, him, and his are not intended as exclusively masculine pronouns. They may refer to either sex or to both sexes!

Would Jesus have been in favour of torturing people to death if they worked on the Sabbath?
