THE COSMOS IS ALL THAT IS, EVER WAS, OR EVER WILL BE"
~ Carl Sagan
Is this statement true? Or is there really a God?

Spoiled Brat
There could be a god, gods, demi gods, supernatural killer pickles, demon farts (this one's for you Stephen) or anything else anyone wishes to come up with. However, there is no way to know, no way to go about knowing, and no way to determine..."
Have you ever stopped to actually think? If there is no way of "knowing" that there is a God, could there possibly be NO WAY of knowing that there is NO God?
I’ll start showing an interest in god when he starts showing an interest in us. Fixing malaria would be a start."
Oh I see the Invention of penicilin (sp?) and other drugs which cure fatal diseases (Polio vaccine etc.) aren't good enough for you? You want an immediate cure for everything right now. What's the matter, you don't like living with the consiquences of your own actions? You are a selfish brat who says
"I'm not going to beileve that my father exists unless he gives me all the toys I want when I want it."
Grow up and start thinking with a little logic.

Re: Spoiled Brat
Who Cares? An expected response. But Let's suppose for a minute that God really does exist. If God really is God, and He created us, then who owns us? God Does. Who are we accounable to? God. Therefore if we live in contradiction of His rules and Morals, which He has established, then we must suffer the penalty for it.
So if God does exist, and you don't believe in him, you will suffer eternal punishment.
Who Cares? The answer is you should!

Yes Alexander Fleming did invent penicillin, but who invented Alexander Fleming??? Who gave him the knowledge, who allowed him to be born, who gave him the breathe of life?

Re: Spoiled Brat
Ok so let's keep playing the logical game and keep going back and asking "Who allowed that who allowed that..." Ultimately the parents of the parents of the children and the Doctor all had to have a beginning. It's called cause and effect. And it starts from God. Ultimately God is the cause and we are the effect. If you don't want to have a serious discussion I'm going to ask you to go somewhere else. I started this topic for people who are both serious and INTELLIGENT. Both are desired from me to even consider your response.
Thanks

Re: Spoiled Brat
Hmmm.... this is interesting.......I'm waiting for the Admins to jump all over you and tell you to stick to the topic. The topic is
Does God Really Exist
Not Which God Really Exists.
That is a completely different topic....right there YOU are assuming that God does exist. Let's stick to the topic ok?

But Let's suppose for a minute that God really does exist.
First give us a good reason to.
Ok, I would be glad to. Just as it is impossible for buildings to be built by an explosion in a brick factory, likewise it's biologically impossible for life to have originated by an explosion (big bang) 15 - 20 billion years ago.
You want more? I've got lot's.

Keep looking it's there...
And I was asking Dan Carrol to "suppose" because he doesn't believe in God and asked me "who cares?"

The Point
Look when I said "let's suppose" I was reffering to something completely different and to a different member.
Secondly, My point is this. You say that we cannot prove Scientifically that God Exists, so why DO we believe in him? True, we cannot PROVE that God does exist. But by that same virtue, we cannot prove Scientifically that God does NOT exist. So why DON'T you believe in him. There is far more scientific evidence to weigh in support of there being a God than not. That is my point.
Welcome Phatboy, it is good to have you here.
BTW Dan, I agree with Phatboy, your wit is entertaining. It is actually fun to converse with you (which is a lot more than I can say for most of the other members on this forum).

Crashfrog and Santa
And if Jesus or God were on trial in a court of law, and if the evidence that proved their existance was "Christians" would the evidence be enough to prove the existance or would the evidence be thrown out?
Thrown out, because all their testimony would be hearsay.Otherwise you could confirm the legal existence of Santa Claus based on the testimony of children. But I don't see anyone booking flights to the North Pole.
I disagree, no one has ever seen a Fat red man with a white beard in a suit climb down chimneys all over the world and leave presents under Christmas Trees. Bt the Disciples of Christs (and other SECULAR) historians DID see Jesus, and they SAW him perform miracles, including his own ressurection from the dead.
So yes there testimony would be considered eyewitness accounts.

Baboons
...you are right. We can not know for certain whether or not there is a God. We also can not know for certain whether or not there is a 20,000 year-old telepathic robot living under the surface of the moon. We also can not know for certain whether or not the ghosts of dead baboons haunt our urinary tracts.
Dan you need to stop making me laugh so hard! You are personally invading MY urinary tract!!
Let's look at basic bio. We have never observed life being created "ex nihlio," (out of nothing). From a biological stand point it would be impossible. Life can only come from pre-existing life.
So something somewhere, somehow, must have been the original cause.
Now you say,
We [...] can not know for certain whether or not the ghosts of dead baboons haunt our urinary tracts.
True, but from a biolocial stand point we have NO reason to beileve that they do. Why? Because we know that urinary tracts can function without the Ghosts of Baboons. However, we also know that life is NOT like our urinary tract, it could not have originated without an ORIGINATOR. It NEEDS one. Even our urinary tract needs one!
