Re: Dear Watsons
Well if they are any form of gemstones then 39 of these undocumented large stones would be considered supernatural wouldn't they. They would be worth more then the yearly gross product of idaho.
If they are cut glass then I doubt we can ascribe "supernature" origin to them.

gems?
To help aid in my detective work has anyone seen "stones" like those shown, for sale on ebay or anywhere on the web? They are very large "stones" I think they commented that they were greater than 50 carats.
When I saw the gems, I wondered why God would choose tacky looking costume gems - but maybe I'm just a cynic.
ebay
random costume gems
'Bling'
I'm not taking anybody's word for anything in that video. I couldn't see the gem as big as a house in the grass until the guy moved a whole load of grass out of the way so I was unable to rule out sleight of hand.
I can find only one reason to believe, because I am desperate to be a good Christian and engage in deliberate naivity have 'childlike faith'.

Re: gems?
Several more observations:
  • This couple was said to be non-materialistic and "supportive of orphans in Africa." If so, either they should attempt to garner some money for these stones and help the poor kids....or perhaps they are hoping that the orphans will be helped through publicity!
  • The angel that is described as holding the gemstones is given as an afterthought in passing reference while the gemstones are revered with awe. People who have diamonds in their hair and flakes of gold on their skin.... hmmmm! They seem so innocuous of these "signs and wonders" as if its a normal part of life! "we were praising God one Sunday morning when the angel dropped another stone!" As if the apparance of the angel would be page 7 news!
well...he DOES magnify the angel a bit later on....right before he cries.
I think that these people are naive and that they are victims of others who staged the entire thing. Moreover, the ones who staged it are not believers who fear God but are simply P.T.Barnum type cons.
Upon googling the prophetess in the first part of the video, however, I have not yet found any allegations against her integrity. They do sell fleece blankets that have been prayed over for $20.00 and I saw unprayed for ones on E-Bay for $3.95.

    Well put.
Those gems from ebay do not look like the gems in the video though. Not saying it isn't them.

Seriously religious people are ideal for a grift, in the course of a normal, you appeal to the greed of the mark. This is no different and in actual fact might actually be easier because the mark is so desperate to see signs.

    Duplicity
Yes, but Charles...even an evil atheist such as yourself would never bilk people out of their money this way...now would you?
It all boils down to the integrity of Patricia King. All that I found about her was that she has a team of lawyers surrounding her and a prophetic school that she conducts from coast to coast at various host churches...(who probably give her a $5000.00 love offering minimum) asnd I notice that she sells her merchandise in 3 countries.
The producer who she named as going to film the gemstones is also in charge of the U.K. branch of her stores.

It is pretty hard to find 50+ carat gemstones. The Hope Diamond for example is 45.52 carats.

    Re: Dear Watsons
I want determine the refaction index and specific gravity. From what i understand cubic zerconia has a considerably larger specific gravity of diamond.
Specific gravity is very easy for a stone that big with a near-homemade pair of scales and a glass of water. Zirconia is 5.6 g/cc, diamond 3.51, and glass around 2.7. Ruby is 4.02, emerald 2.8.
It's too easy, and I'll bet a gemologist only has to look.

I guess that explains why they are called "fleece" blankets

Particularly when I can run a refractive index on one in thirty seconds without harming the stone
Yep. I think the so called expert mentioned a test on the video. Naturally, I was baffled by science. But me being crafty, I don't therefore conclude they are right because of my bafflement, because they are only claiming he was an expert anyway.
I wish someone like you could fully test the stone. But then again, it would very, very, very, very likely be a waste of your time.

    Good point.
    ebay
    Imagine if they were found to come from ebay. Don't tell me their answer, I already know it;
"the angel must have bidded for them on ebay then left them at our house".

At two or three points in the video, I got the impression that it was too "well written" to be spontaneous - like Tom Joad's speech at the end of The Grapes of Wrath.
Was he a real country bumpkin? Did he seem more "real" than Henry Fonda's Tom Joad?

well, see, Tom Joad was able to prepare for his goodbye speach. As he tells Ma Joad, he's been doin' a lot thinkin', especially 'bout Casey and his words. And he knew he would have to leave at some point--he had killed a man--again.

So you think the gem guy started rehearsing his speech after the first few gems fell from the sky?
In anticipation of a documentary film crew also dropping from the sky?
The cynic in me pictures him down at the joke shop, purchasing fake baubles for his Hallowe'en costume and saying to himself, "Hmm...."
