Re: The Fifth Candidate
If you think you have a hard time you should see it from this side.
I will not figure out the complete picture in my lifetime, and hopefully, not sounding too fititious, I know more than 99.9%. The other 1% is like the difference between us and the apes. What may even be worse, or better is that we do it again after death.

I don't know if the Resurrection ever happened. It seems to go against what I can dither out. What would be the point of another miracle at that point. Further no evidence was ever found. It also seems likely that if Jesus was in Heaven now, He would be on our time scale and two thousand years is plenty on any man's watch. I can only conclude that physical ascension is not allowed in God's universe. Ascension then is only of the Spirit.
This may be another misinterpretation of the words of Jesus. Or a way for the founding fathers to solidify the root of the tree, let us say, of the Church. I would not mind some guidance from you on this issue.
How you can say we do not have the potential.
You may place all the limits on your God that you wish. I place none on mine. Genesis indicates our potential.

Regards
DL

Anastasia

So many questions. I was born Rc. My only affiliation at present is to God. I will do this for a time. Go have an operation then possibly return. I've asked to be evaluated by one of your members and will decide on my return then.
We are not here for anything but the philosophy of God. I hope we can restrict asides not proposed by myself. Smiles.
Jesus, with what I believe at this point in time, with a small numbers of glitches, was the best voice in presenting the true mind of God. The Bible is the best road-map to God.
I have spoken on my reservation on physical ascension will proclaiming the reality of mental Ascension. The verdict is not quite in on this one. His timing on the end time was off as well.
No one knows Jesus's words.

I wasn't sure who you guys were discussing.
I had to look up pedantic and I still don't know what it means.

I hope you operation is not of a serious nature, and that it goes well.

If you continue posting here, you are likely to be evaluated by more than one of our members.

What do you mean, 'restrict asides not proposed by myself'? I can restrict anything I like not opposed by the forum rules. :)

His timing on the end time was off as well

How do you know?, if as you say;

No one knows Jesus's words.

You are very contradictory.

And He would know the difference between pedantry and clarity.

My dictionary defines:
Paragraph, a distinct portion of written or printed matter dealing with a particular idea, usually beginning with an indentation on a new line.

Self-righteous, confident of one’s own righteousness, esp. when smugly moralistic and intolerant of the opinions and behaviour of others.

Clarity 1. the state or quality of being clear or transparent. 2. Clearness or lucidity as to perception or understanding.

Pedant, a person who makes an excessive or inappropriate show of learning.

The differences between clarity and pedantry are surely obvious.

The original posting of my excerpt indented lines to indicate a new paragraph. The God in my story could not possibly be described as self-righteous by any definition. If any part of my writing required clarity, then it would be very reasonable for any reader to bring a specific example to my attention - if only out of courtesy.
May I suggest that you read more carefully. You might better impress your fans in the gallery if you use the correct definitions of words when ‘correcting’ others. Also, perhaps you might improve your aim before shooting more rattlers. And, please, take care not to shoot yourself in the foot - again.

PS I have much to learn, i.e. repeating the original WordPerfect fomatting to these postings.

Hy Anastsia

You did not notice the smile at the end of the asides statement. That was my attempt at humour. I guess I know not to try again.
I know that Jesus mistimed the end time because I am here. If His at hand statement would has been on time for the end time we would all be in Heaven.
Contradictions abound in the Bible, Like Jesus, I will add a few more as I clarify things.
Jesus I Honour.
I do not agree on a few things attributed to Him including resurrection of the body. Soul yes body no.

Is God not confident of His own righteousness?

Is it to protect your Ego (or the actor you impersonate rather badly) that you failed to include part of the description of self-righteous: "...when smugly moralistic and intolerant of the opinions and behaviour of others." Perhaps it was your charming modesty?

You are clearly not interested in what others have to say, and I'm bored with your self aggrandisement. I have no more time for your games.

One could fairly describe the deity portrayed in most biblical texts as 'intolerant of the opinions and behaviour of others.' Sending plagues and opening earthquakes under their feet and authorizing the burning of their villages and all. Not to mention hell.

And 'moralistic' is surely an accurate description.

The only quibble is whether the biblical deity may be fairly described as 'smug.' This is a subjective call. I submit that room exists for an honest difference of opinion on this point.

Perhaps Ringo omitted that bit out of modesty, as you say. Or perhaps he just didn't want to furrow the brow of any moralistic, intolerant deities out there.

You are clearly not interested in what others have to say, and I'm bored with your self aggrandisement. I have no more time for your games.

An extreme reaction and illogical in context.

Ringo is asking you questions. That is not the behavior of someone who is 'clearly not interested in what others have to say.'

But you wouldn't be the first person who actually wished he would pay less attention to your posts than he does.

;)

On the subject of boredom: I'm bored with this whole digression down Dictionary Lane. It risks making pedants of all of us. And it's fatuous.

Any chance of getting back to our committee work?

Yes, God is confident in His own righteousness, even if He isn't smug about it.

Re: The Fifth Candidate
I warmly encourage you not to place limits on yourself or the God you believe in. It may help to re-read John's gospel, particularly Chapter 14:12. I never heard a preacher speak those words from a pulpit, possibly because Jesus was giving us permission to do greater works than he. That would take some power from the church. All truth lies within your Spirit. When we listen we are amazed at what we learn without assistance from other human beings.

Warm regards.

I’m aware of Phat’s opening post - that the subject of God should be treated semi-humorously or semi-seriously. I am entirely at fault for taking many of my life’s experiences too seriously. One of which was, without apology, a revelation. Not of God, but of the existence of a spirit form of life, real life which I could not quantify or prove. It was later ‘confirmed’ by two other experiences. If any of you have had an exceptional experience you may have wanted to share it with others in the - perhaps mistaken - belief that it will help, or if for no other reason than to give another person permission to acknowledge a similar experience.

My error, my mistake was to assume others following this thread would feel some empathy with my views. Yes, I am offended when someone challenges my sincerity. And why should I be offended? I have no right at all. We are all individuals, each on our own path and in our own learning curve.

So I have been taught an important lesson. Live and let live. Judge not. To thine own self be true, and allow others the right to be true to themselves.
