My contention is our system of morality is ultimately derived from our collective emotions. Many religious insitutions believe morality is revealed by and derived from divine revelation.
What I believe is that Jesus did tear the curtain to the temple, and now the temple is us. We are inherently good in our purest spirit form. It is the world and religion that taints us.
We do not need a formal relationship with the Lord to be a good person.
Would you prefer it if morality was derived from logic?

The next quesition obviously in what makes a good person? What are we using to define what is good? Is it our appeal to our emotions or an appeal to divine revelation?

What makes a good person?
Obviously, good people are compassionate, empathetic, understanding, kind, loving, responsible, merciful, just and wise, void of evil.
Obviously, they don't exist!

My response should have answered that for you. I said, we do not need a relationship with the Lord to be a good person, or do good things.
I did many good things before I knew God, and I did bad things.
Now that I know God, I still do good and bad things.
On one hand, we can say that God has nothing to do with it, since we all have the ability to choose, then on the other hand, we can say, if God created it all, then it is all His fault.
But no matter what, just about every decision we make in life, can be categorized as good or bad. It is one of the things that lead me to seek God. This whole good and bad deal.

But I am asking for your opinion on what seperates good from bad? What does it mean to be good and who defines it?

Good and bad are relative.
If someone feels like they are doing good, then thats the best they can do. I am sure Hitler thought he was doing good (unless he was truly evil), either way I cannot judge it.
I believe the Holy Spirit has revealed many things to me, and what I previously thought was good, now seems bad (regarding my own personal stuff). So I have been faced with having to make some changes on my life.
But I can only be revealed so much at a time. Somethings in life, I just must go through before it can be revealed to me. (I learn things the hard way)
A better way of describing it, would be to observe a child who doesn't like school. For him/her it is a bad thing. But later on in life, they can realize just how good it was.
That is why I say it is relative.
