If the xian god (who I will assume exists for the purpose of this question) withdrew its influence from the world and humantity and let the world and us get on with things with out its guidence, what would happen to the world as we know it?
Would we quietly carry on as normal, or would there be some noticable in change in nature or humanity?
Faith and Belief please.

Happy Christmas to all EvC...
...whatever it is that it means to you. Me? I'll be celebrating his birth.

Given that we would be stripped of conscience (Gods call on us which seeks to counter our sinful nature) we would act only in accordance with what sin would have us do. It would be like the jungle but with the not insignificant addition of a positive drive towards evil (which would continue to exist except we wouldn't know we were doing evil)
Which would strip alot of what we suppose of as "the fun" out of doing evil. So be careful what you ask from Santa this Christmas

*Poof*
If God did not exist, neither would we. Plain and simple.

Re: *Poof*
In this case, though, God DOES exist, only he's pulled Himself from the world we live in. He no longer influences events as He does. Notice that the OP said to assume His existance.
So, you haven't really answered the question.
To me, all the acts of God would never happen... and anything (everything) attributed to God, would not happen either. Molecules themselves would cease to move.

Re: *Poof*
God's existence isn't what Larni asked about. God's influence is the topic.

We dont know what would happen. IF there is another spiritual influence that would still be influencing us, we would become unbalancedd without the restraint of the Holy Spirit IMB. But we dont really know.....

Very few would even notice.
We would quietly carry on as normal. I personally would feel a loss, just as when you lose any close friend.

We all inherit the Knowledge of good and evil from Adam and Eve (or at least we learn it from our cultures). So the system is self-correcting. It doesn't require minute-by-minute hands-on control.

No one would notice. Nothing would change. Even according to the fundamentalist Christian teachings that I was taught, God has stood back to let us run things for ourselves, just so we can get a good object lesson in how thoroughly we can screw everything up (not their exact wording, but the general idea).
In other words, from the way the world works we cannot tell whether the Christian idea of "God" exists or not.
OTOH it was once pointed out long ago in another forum far far away that Christianity has had a profound effect in the shaping of European culture and history and in everything based on or influenced by European culture and history. This effect exists regardless of whether Christian theology is true or not. IOW, it does not make any difference at all if Christianity is completely and utterly false and the Christ never existed and the Christian idea of "God" does not exist and none of the gods ever existed. What did make all the difference is what people believed and, since they believed Christianity and its associated doctrines and dogma to be true, that belief is what shaped European culture and history and the world.
BTW, I am not a supporter of Christianity. For that matter, I have some serious misgivings about popular Christian teachings, especially regarding morality -- I am for morality, BTW.
(pulling it back on-topic)
So the real effect of God's vanishing would be none whatsoever. However, the actions taken by people based on their belief that their God has vanished would be real. And if their belief is that they must unleash pandemonium should their God vanish, then they would indeed unleash pandemonium. A fellow atheist once told about his fundamentalist neighbor who expressed that his belief in God was the only thing keeping him from being an axe murderer, to which the atheist expressed the wish that his neighbor never lose his faith.

Isn't the 7 years tribulation supposed be the time when God removes His influence? So just read the "Left Behind" series, or better yet play the game.
