Sorry I mean to say Genesis 8:17 "Bring out every kind of living creature that is with you-the birds, the animals, and all the creatures that move along the ground-so they can multiply on the earth and be fruitful and increase in number upon it" Instead they decide to all settle in one place and start building.
Sorry Drag' but this doesn't mention dispersal and, apparently, applies only to the animals.
Is it really necessary to get nit picky about the why it was stopped?
It is when someone presents a faulty argument in that regard. It would seem that you had remembered the text incorrectly. No big deal. Everyone here has made that mistake at least once.

Another alternative is that modern humans did not evolve from apes, but were created more recently than 400,000 years ago. Many recent studies support this hypothesis (see below). (Gibbons, A. 1995. The mystery of humanity's missing mutations. Science 267: 35-36.)
I haven't looked it up yet, but I'll bet the national debt of the third-world nation of your choice that this quote and that reference didn't come as a pair. Where's the "other thread" where this is under discussion?

Genesis 11:4 "Then they said, "Come let us build oursleves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole earth.""
Sounds like disobedience to me

You kind of need to have a rule against doing something before you can disobey it, don't you think? I mean, there are rules against eating crawdads, but none I've seen against building towers...

Disobedience of what?
You have so far failed to make the case for disobedience.
The scripture you cited does not say what you wanted it to say.
Is your theological bias more important than the evidence of scripture?
Show us the command to disperse and we will concede this point. Otherwise you are saddling those people with a sin they did not commit. How satanic is that?!

Even if I was wrong, satanic? Please
read genesis 9:1 Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth"
again in verse 7 As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it."
The first verse is clearer as they are told to "fill the earth" which would require moving to different parts

Ok dragonstyle,
then what do you make of this verse:
Gen 11:6 And the LORD said, Behold, the people [is] one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
Why dosn't God say disobedience?

That's nice. Reply with a mislabeled quote. Lying for God... geez...
EvC Forum: The flood and Ancient Chinese Documents
But in all fairness, it was the site, where you quote originated, that mislabeled the article. You just spread the love.

The word satan is equivalent to the word "accuser," and you are accusing those people of disobedience. Satan is a role, not a name. Whoever plays the role, is a candidate for the title.
Please read genesis 9:1 Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth"
Apparently they did this. Filling it with sufficient numbers to undertake a large building project. But "the earth" is not a referene to "the planet." Bible writers did not imagine imagine earth to be a planet. It simply means, "the land." For "fill the earth," read, "fill the land." American's "fill" a land which is larger than the whole world as it was known to denizens of the ancient Middle East. Besides, "fill" does not mean "spill over."
again in verse 7 As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it."
This is about multiplication, not dispersal.
The first verse is clearer as they are told to "fill the earth" which would require moving to different parts
They were already migrating when they found a place to build the tower).
quote:
Now the whole earth had one language and few words. And as men migrated from the east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there. Genesis 11:1,2 Revised Standard Version
This seems to suggest that the "whole earth" was already settled; in which case, if they all moved to "the land of Shinar," there must have been quite a crowd!

I figured there was something wrong with that quote. The most persuasive clue, for me, was the degree of literacy represented:
quote:
the human population must have went through a "population bottleneck"
Many such sites exhibit marginal literacy. If these guys can't pay attention in English class, how can they discriminate between cock and bull?
