Even tho you may think you have seen and heard everything, you won't believe your ears or eyes. This is sheer lunacy.
Put it anywhere, really.

Need some commentary from you (not just bare link to video)
What are your opinions on the matter? Give a text starting point for the discussion.
I'm not going to promote a bare link to a video, to become a new topic.

It really helps moderators figure out if a topic is disintegrating because of general misbehavior versus someone in particular if the originally non-misbehaving members kept it that way. When everyone is prickly and argumentative and off-topic and personal then it's just too difficult to tell. We have neither infinite time to untie the Gordian knot, nor the wisdom of Solomon.
There used to be a comedian who presented his ideas for a better world, and one of them was to arm everyone on the highway with little rubber dart guns. Every time you see a driver doing something stupid, you fire a little dart at his car. When a state trooper sees someone driving down the highway with a bunch of darts all over his car he pulls him over for being an idiot.
Please make it easy to tell you apart from the idiots. Source

Hi, MinneMoose
The video speaks for itself better than I ever could. However, by now, I'm certain, most have seen the lunacy of this man making like a nazi showing the colors of scientology.
Promote it, don't promote it, it's fine with me. I'm easy to please. Those who have seen the video here and wish to comment, can ask you to release it into traffic if they wish to do so.

What's the big deal here?
All I see are semi-coherent ramblings.
I'm not sure what's all the fuss.
However, by now, I'm certain, most have seen the lunacy of this man making like a nazi showing the colors of scientology.
I must have missed the "making like a nazi" part. Can somebody explain it to me?

Let's end the political smears

Re: What's the big deal here?
I don't get the big deal either. A religious person thinks that his particular brand of faith holds the answers - well don't they all ?
I think it slightly odd how people who believe in a God coming to earth to be nailed to a plank of wood and can be fought off with iron chariots find anything to mock.
From the outside looking in, those are all equally odd things.

What is the problem?
Do you have a problem with someone saying we need to try to fix things?
Do you have a problem with someone saying we help those in need?
What is it about the video that bothers you, loving others as you love yourself?

Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

Re: What is the problem?
Indeed, if you get past the slightly odd grin, what does Tom seem to be saying?
That too many people are standing by and not taking action to change things, that too many people are overly negative and surrounding yourself with negative people is liking to make you feel negative etc etc.

I Don't Get It
Hi Dogs3,
I watched about half of the video (my tolerance for Cruisian rambling monologues is about 4 minutes, tops). I don't get the issue you have with it. I'll freely admit Scientology is a load of horse bollocks, but I think that about most religions anyway. Was there something specific in the video you felt was more than the usual hollywood lunacy and/or Tomcruisian self-serving egocentric codswollop?
The only question I have beyond that is, "Does one have to be a grade-C science fiction writer to start one's own religion, or can anyone do it?"

I'm just stunned at his ability to talk for 9 minutes without saying anything. He praised himself continually for his activism without once mentioning anything he ever actually did. Maybe he was thinking of things like taking legal action against South Park.

Thank you everyone
for your contributions, please keep them coming. Appreciated.
Percy, narcissism is necessary in his field, which most in that field carry with aplomb, never too heavy. Thanks for your observation.

Narcicism
I think what I see with Cruise is the astonishing pride he has for himself. I'm not sure if I've seen anyone with a more self-congratulatory spirit about them.
That said, we all run the risk of this by forgetting one other critical virtue that we sometimes forget while trying to maintain the others -- humility.
To the other readers saying, big deal, what is the difference between his religion and other religions: Your point is well taken, however, there seems to be one critical aspect missing.
Most religions point away from the self and look to something else in which to improve the self. Cruise and Scientology looks at the self as if it is the answer for all of the major questions of life.

“There is something which unites magic and applied science while separating both from the 'wisdom' of earlier ages. For the wise men of old the cardinal problem had been how to conform the soul to objective reality, and the solution had been knowledge, self-discipline, and virtue. For magic and applied science alike the problem is how to subdue reality to the wishes of men: the solution is a technique; and both, in the practice of this technique, are ready to do things hitherto regarded as disgusting and impious" -C.S. Lewis

I agree with Percy. I just saw that video. I couldn't tell what he was talking about except how great he was.

One thing I know for sure, if I'm in an automobile accident, please, PLEASE, *PLEASE* don't let Tom Cruise be driving by.

So what? The practical outcome is the same, someone saying "my religion is the one with the answers".
