Actually you DID use the "directive to not be alarmed to refer to the entire prophecy".
Post 82 "Suppose Jesus was trying to tell the disciples they were the generation that would certainly not pass away until all these
things had happened; why would he tell them not to be alarmed?"
"All these things" seems to cover that quite well.

Why am I constantly trying to convince myself that you are competent enough to read a post, when I know you can't read a bible verse....

Tell me are you lying or just semi-literate ?
It is pretty obviosu that you are freely adding to and distorting Mark 13 and completely misrepresenting my posts.
If you have the ability to read English correctly and any integrity at all, I suggest you go back, readd the posts and apologise.

This is going downhill, lets up the quality of the posts a little please:
Debate in good faith by addressing rebuttals through the introduction of new information or by providing additional argument. Do not merely keep repeating the same points without elaboration.
Respect for others is the rule here. Argue the position, not the person. The Britannica says, "Usually, in a well-conducted debate, speakers are either emotionally uncommitted or can preserve sufficient detachment to maintain a coolly academic approach."
The second one applies even if you are talking to yourself!

It is a bit hard when the other party is either semi-literate, deluded or lying.
Tell you what Brian, if you can find any place in this thread where I suggest that Jesus statement in Mark 13:2 is a response to the question in 13:4 - or even anything I wrote that could be reasonably interpreted as saying that then I'll write a public apology.
You won't see "itsme" being so gracious.

Hi Paul,

I wont find it because it isnt there, I know you didn't suggest that at all.
I also agree that it is a bit hard when the other party appears to be quote semi-literate, deluded or lying
The point I am making is that, through the choice of words, this thread is degenerating a little and it would be nice to up the quality of the posts.
I fully understand how frustrating some replies can be, I am not the most tactful person in the world, but no progress is being made here.

The reason that no progress is being made is that "itsme" is not addressign the points made. Maybe you should point out to "itsme" that this is a discussion forum.

Hello,
PaulK writes:
Firstly the prediction of the Second Coming as it appears in the Bible is addressed to the disciples and implies that some of them would live to see it.
My points were
  • there is more than one prediction concerning this topic
  • not all predictions are written by the disciples (ie. Zechariah 14:4)
You chose Mark 13 as an example, which taken literally, implies two things
  • the disciples would see the beginning of the prophecies(Mark 13:5-8)
  • they would be flogged and arrested(Mark 13:9-11)
The beginning should not be interchanged with completion here, in terms of prophecy.
Do you agree or disagree with these two statements and why?
  • disciples die during or not long after the beginning of prophetic events
  • Jesus returns at the culmination of prophetic events

Mark 13 writes:
"But in those days, following that distress...
26"At that time men will see the Son of Man coming...
  • Note the use of the plural (those,(that)) indicating to sometime in the future.
  • Checkout how it reads with the singular (this,(these))
  • This truly sounds to imply them
Mark 13 writes:
"But in these days, following this distress...,
26 "At this time men will see the Son of Man coming...

If Zechariah is talking about the second coming of Jesus, I'll eat may pencil.
Finish reading the chapter and tell me if you still believe that!

Yes, and I don't really think your a pencileater.
But I do maintain that it pertains to the coming day of the Lord's judgement.
