Re: Missed it alright Shroud of Lirey/Chambery - Turin
The problem with the Shroud is that it's in a class of its' own. At least the polarized "negatives" are. Wasn't there an early investigation concerned with the Turin Shroud image formation Why question the original microscopic evidence when a man at the very top of his field was asked to examine it and he found without a doubt that it was a fake - they weren't blood stains, but an iron compound (from a "medieval paint recipe") Maybe, just maybe, people like William Meacham instead of harping on about the fiasco of the C-14 dating of 1988 or going on about the chemicals used in the 2002 Restoration could just let it go

I don't buy it
I will be interested in seeing the evidence for this.
I believe the Shroud is not the actual burial cloth of either Jesus or anyone else for that matter. If it were, why would the blood have only stained the front of his face as opposed to the sides of his head as the material draped over his face? What I mean to say is, the image is 2-Dimensional, as opposed to 3. I think the evidence supports that it was painted, perhaps even using human blood to give it the appearance of authenticity. Take a damp cloth with an agent to die to the cloth and drape it over your face. When you open the cloth and stretch it out, the impression will not merely stop at the front of your face, but will wrap around the side of your head, distorting the image a bit.
Anyway, that's my take on it. I don't buy it.
