The Jewish people themselves are one of the greatest fulfilled prophesies in recent times.
Ez 36:24 "For I will take you from the nations, gather you from all the lands and bring you into your own land. This began in earnest in the early 1900's, and was culminated in 1948 with the establishment of the nation of Israel. The rest is history. Now we are entering into the times of Zech 12-14.

When the Jews were sent into Babylonian exile, they were sent primarily to Babylon, not to "all nations" of the world. If you can't see the fulfillment of Ez 36;24 ocurring from the early 1900's onward, it's no wonder that you missed the Messiah's 1st coming and all the prophesies surrounding His 1st coming, and you will miss His 2nd coming as well.

No matter what translation I read, offspring and a prolonged life is part of the prophecy. You must have missed the Scriptures where Jesus declared these words: John 3:3-7 Jesus answered and said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God." Nicodemus said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born, can he?" Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be amazed that I said to you, `You must be born again.' John 10:27-28 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand." John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?"

I've missed nothing. What's your point concerning my post? Since you do not believe Jesus fulfilled the prophesy of Isaiah 53 concerning "seeing His descendants and giving them long life," the verses in John declare Jesus gives eternal life to those who are born into the kingdom of God.

But those are not children of his loin, his seed. How does the verse concerning the servants seed support the idea of symbolic "birth" into God's kingdom or eternal life after physical death? That's assuming quite a lot. What translation tells you he will give his descendants long life? The NAS which says this: John 10:27-28 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand."

quote:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- John 10:27-28 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This passage says nothing about giving his descendants long life. That is the whole gist of the argument. You would feel right at home with Bill Clinton who declared "It all depends on what is is." You may not think "eternal life" is long life, but to those who are born of His Spirit (John 1:12-13, 3:3-7), it is! That is the gist of the argument. 1 John 5:11-13 And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.

You are no longer even arguing the OP. You are preaching. If you want to preach you should go someplace else. Preaching is not something that is usually accepted here. It seems preaching is OK when it's done by skeptics and unbelievers, but not OK when it's done by Believers in the Lord Jesus Christ explaining what the Scriptures mean to those who are able to hear Jesus speaking to them. Maybe you need to "rethink" your reply (see post # 90).

The fallen Adamic nature is gleaned from Paul's letters, not what was written in the Gospels. Apparently you are not one of the "lost" Jesus was referring to in Luke 19:10-11 where Jesus declared this: "Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."

Skeptics and unbelievers at this forum will argue infinitum the truths of Bible Scripture - whether or not Scripture has been fulfilled in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus gave this promise to those who believe in Him and enter into the eternal life that He gives:
John 7:37-39 Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, `From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.' (Isa 44:3) But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. The words/books of the Bible are God's love letters given to the spiritual descendants of Abraham, to those from every tribe and nation (Gen 22:18) who are willing to enter into the Lord's salvation given to lost sinners. It cannot be understood or received by any other people. It's as simple and as difficult as that!

Yes, when lost sinners are "willing" to repent of their sins, God will save them. But God's salvation is "both" man being willing to enter into His salvation (John 3:16), and God the Father drawing sinners to our Savior (John 6:44).
I'm forever gratefull that I'm one of John 3:16's "whosoever wills," and that God's people are a "chosen" race (John 15:16,19; 1 Pet 2:9). Blessings Edited by John 10:10, : added Bible reference
