a few probably stupid questions.
How long have humans selectively bred animals or plants?
How many such breeding experiments have been carried out?
Were those breeding incidents directed towards a particular desired result as opposed to just survivability?
How long has natural selection been going on?
How many breeding incidents have happened during that period?
Were those breeding incidents directed towards a particular desired result as opposed to just survivability?

couple points to remember
Natural selection is not one single thing. It is as variable as everything else and it includes factors like "Is something else already filling a given niche."
At times the filtering effect might be like a fine mesh net. At other times it might be like a net with a great rip or tear in it that allows large and small to escape.
