If you believe the Bible is in error and distorted by man, whats the point in believeing in it at all... You might as well base your belief in God on the Koran or Vedas or whatever the Hindu sacred text is...

It didn't take God 15 billion years, it took him 6 days, the Bible is never in error... if the mechanical science version contradicts the Bible then it is wrong. I guess I'm going to have to throw away all my biology texts, chemistry texts, burn all those physics notes I took, close my eyes and put corks in my ears cuz ladies and worms it just CAN'T ALL be true cuz the bible say it ain't so. Must ferget all me learnen, cuz god say so. Sarcasm off.

Since 1 Timothy 3 only has 16 verses I'd like to seem him quote verse 17. I think he means 2 Timothy 3:16-17. Which is often interpreted by Fundamentalists as meaning that the Bible was literally authored by God and is infallibly true. Of course it doesn't come out and actually SAY that but what the Bible says usually takes second place to what fundamentalists would like it to mean (NIV) 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

They actually were born that way. Heredity studies confirm a genetic basis to homosexuality. I have heard these studies were inconclusive (i.e. there was some evidence pointing to this, but not enough for it to be considered true). And even if they were conclusive, I don't think it would mean anything in terms of Christian theology. I agree with you guys about everything else, though. However, I do think homosexuality is a sin, but nothing more (in other words, I do not think a homosexual believer would be sent to Hell).

Rape largely isn't about sex anyway. Rape is about power. Ask almost any criminologist, and they'll give you the same answer. From most studies that I've read that were published in psychiatry journals (I'll give examples if you'd like), the ratio of pedophiles that identify as heterosexual to homosexual is about 11:1. That's not much of a correlation, as about 4% of the US male population is publicly "out", and an estimated equal number are "in the closet" or only out to friends. ------------------ "Illuminant light, illuminate me."
