I'm not leaving, how much clearer can I be? also: I'm done spamming this site, so just leave me be, though I already know some admin is going to suspend this account, oh well, I'll go make another 1. cya later everyone.

Re-Smoking
Hi subbie,
I wish you all the luck in the world. It is all determined by your decisions.
I was smoking four packs of cigarettes a day when I quit cold turkey.
I decided I was not going to smoke another cigarette and have not in the last 45 years.
Hope you have the will to make it where you want to be.

I was thinking of taking up smoking.
Any tips?

Depends on where your nose is.
In my house, you have no right to complain.
In a public place, you ought to have no right to complain.

Portland started a similar law last year. In L.A. a new law was in effect as of Jan 1, 2008, that if you live in an apartment, you can't smoke in it. You can't even smoke on your own balcony. You have to go across the street.
As a non-smoker who has lived in apartments where neighbors (even down the hall and on different floors) were smokers, I can tell you that it is awful.
Balconies are often stacked on top of one another, and if a smoker is smoking ourside on their balcony, it means that anyone who doesn't want the stink in their apartment has to shut all of their windows and balcony doors. If someone smokes for hours outside every night in the summer (like one neighbor did before we moved away), it means that I never get to open the balcony to let in the breeze unless I want the stink.
That's not really allowing me to enjoy my home.

What if someone let their car running right outside and the end result was the same? Would you argue that they can't do that too?

I've had neighbors who played music louder than I liked.
I've had neighbors who cooked foul smelling foods.
I've had neighbors with loud kids.
I've had neighbors who swam in cheap perfume or cologne.

If I have asthma and want to go to a concert at the park, why should I have to risk having an attack just because you can't wait until you are away from other people before you blow a lot of pungent air pollution around?
It isn't my problem that you are addicted.

There are also noise ordinances.

Every day, all day?
Foul food smells being blown at you at every public bar, concert, and nightclub? Foul food smells that gives you asthma attacks?

I've had neighbors with loud kids.
See noise ordinance comment above.

That you can smell from a floor below, three doors down? I doubt it.
