Hey, thanks Ned! There's only one thing more satisfying than explaining a great concept, and that is knowing that the effort has been appreciated. You've made my day

Forum: Coffee House Thread: Randman's call for nonSecular education... Post #: 140 I like the way moose expresses his doubts about having the public schools teach religious issues:
The public school is not a substitute for non-church attendance, or for the church's failure to properly cover issues.

Thanks for giving me my first POTM nomination, but I'm afraid that message 140 was a blotched effort (is this what they call "irony"?).
See my message 159 at that topic, as well as Ben's preceeding message 158, and the Holmes message Ben there cites. Maybe you can edit that "140" into a "142"? Moose Added by edit - Not really POTM material, but Holmes has done an important restating/clarification of his intents for and perspectives of the topic at message 168. Added by second edit: Please see next message. It seems to have turned out that my POTM nominated message may have been more on target than I realized. Forum: Coffee House Thread: Randman's call for nonSecular education... Post #: 168 OK - Despite what I just added by edit in my previous message, I'm going to give Holmes a POTM nomination. Not really POTM material (or is it?), but Holmes has done an important restating/clarification of his intents for and perspectives of the topic. Moose Added by edit: Ben thought I was misunderstanding Holmes' intent for the topic. But my understanding of the topic's intent was the same as Ben's. But Ben's understanding of the topic's intent was wrong, and therefore Ben's appraisal of my understanding of the topic's intent was right. He, yet again, covers RM's ranks. An excellent, concise summary. Of course, it is a total waste of his time. It will make not the slightest dent. This message has been edited by AdminJar, 11-18-2005 10:45 PM

Second, although I suppose retread ground, it was done efficiently and I may use bits in the future. I loathe haeckel arguments, but it was nice to get more info on exactly what certain embryonic features are.

Yes - This POTM is from the admin mode.
Name: Buzsaw, RAZD, Buzsaw (also input from others)Forum: Coffee House Thread: Talking some sense into randman Post #: 124, 127, 129, and more? I haven't been following this thread very closely, but I was just thinking about what a load randman is carrying around here. Then I bumbled onto the above cited messages. The bottom line, I think the "liberal evo" side needs to strive some for a "kinder and gentler" debate. "Talking some sense into randman" isn't very kind or gentle. Might be a good time to make some final remarks at that topic. Thinking about closing it down. Yes, I may well here have gone outside or beyond what is normally considered proper POTM message content. Call it admin privilege. Omnivorous in post 17 in the Coffee House thread on sexual morality.
Actually there are some very nice posts there by everyone (esp Crash), but this was a beautifully worded analysis of moral systems in general. It breaks down how all systems are relative, and what judgements from one system means to participants of another system. This could have been useful in any thread on morality, but does nicely here in the context of science effecting morality, and those wanting to impose morals... as if they could! holmes "...what a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away.."(D. Thanks, holmes--just saw this.
You and some others at EvC have set the bar pretty high; your nomination is especially appreciated.

This is for most of Faith's posts in the mentioned thread.
Faith is being much clearer than those opposing her view here. She is also being honest in expressing her views. If other YEC's (not to mention any major web sites usually refered to by 3 letter acronyms) were half as honest there would be little argument about these issues in courts, the media and school boards.
