More Time Needed for Closing Comments
In Behe Bit It (Michael Behe on "The Colbert Report") at 1:29 AM Eastern Time US, Adminnemooseus provided notice that the thread was off-topic and would remain open only one more hour for closing comments, and the thread was closed at 2:37 AM. This corresponds to a period when most participants were likely asleep.

Re: More Time Needed for Closing Comments
My closing coming message was:
Contact with the theme (Behe and/or ID) has be thin at best. Time to lay this one to rest.
Will leave open for about 1 hour for any closing comments, or to see if someone will do a good job of dragging this thing back on topic.
OK, what I was thinking was "1 hour for any messages in progress", not "1 hour for any grand summary messages". But that is not what I wrote.
My impression is that the topic has been pretty badly thrashed, with most material belonging elsewhere if anywhere. If anyone wants to present a good reason why it should be reopened, post away in this topic.

Well, okay, but when evolution is defeated and people start pounding on my door and crying, "Oh, Percy, if you had just posted a summary," I'll point them at you because it'll be all your fault!

Is your (and all the other admins) "Reopen Topic" button broken?

Is this exchange between you and AdminMoose an example of the chit-chat posting style you would rather not see here at EvC?

It really helps moderators figure out if a topic is disintegrating because of general misbehavior versus someone in particular if the originally non-misbehaving members kept it that way. There used to be a comedian who presented his ideas for a better world, and one of them was to arm everyone on the highway with little rubber dart guns. Every time you see a driver doing something stupid, you fire a little dart at his car. When a state trooper sees someone driving down the highway with a bunch of darts all over his car he pulls him over for being an idiot.

Nosy shut down the thread for 'some hours'. The topic was waning in his opinion. How many is 'some hours'?
I knew where the topic was going, and it fits right into the thread topic. Nosy acted abruptly, but considering my history I don't hold it against him.
I have a response prewritten that will answer mark24 and put things back on line. I wanted to wait, but nosy forced my hand.
Please...

I can't figure out how to use the linking codes to forums and threads. very frustrating.
Anyways, I want to reopen my thread about racism and evolution. I think it most definitely qualifies. I used the frames that I was told to use by admin wounded. I provided evidence and my thread made a very relatable point as I am wishing to further discuss. How can you not say that black people look like apes? It is so obvious! Open it up or tell me how to get the main idea opened.
Thanks, HEWG

Guiding your way
Anyways, I want to reopen my thread about racism and evolution. I think it most definitely qualifies. I used the frames that I was told to use by admin wounded. Highestevolvedwhiteguy,
There seems to be quite a lot of ambiguity concerning your thread-- namely, are you joking or do you actually want to debate with honesty?
From what I can tell thus far, you seem to want an avenue in which to argue a point for the sake of arguing a point-- rather than resolving a conflict through reaching a consensus.
Instead of using allusions to your distaste of evolution by trying to illicit a response solely from anger, try posting information about someone such as Huxley (Darwin's Bulldog) who argued that negroes are inferior to that of caucasians on the basis of evolutionary evidence.
At EvC we are looking for some cerebral dialogue. This isn't a flame session.
Please tailor your argument intelligently so that we can promote it. I think your premise is a good one that prove to be a popular topic, but you are going to have to frame it intelligently.
*To add: There is not some conspiracy by evolutionists to undermine your efforts. I am a proponent of Intelligent Design and argue against the current paradigm set forth the proponents of evolution.*
If you are having trouble understanding what a good post looks like, please read the following information and clicking on the links below.

    English Creation Thread
    Message 141
Could this be reopened? I was just in the middle of posting something that I think would help to bring the thread back on topic. My new message was to deal with the rise of English as a global language; primarily, it would serve to show that English is not, as a language, fundamentally different than any other language, and that the increased use of English has nothing to do with any 'pliability' of the language.
That would be, of course, in refutation to IAJ's point that English had a special place in God's heart (or whatever exactly his point is); and since this is the only 'evidence' he's put forward for the creation of English it would knock his entire argument down.
    Thanks,
    Jon

Why is the Intelligent Designer such an idiot?
I'm not sure I understand why this thread was closed. It was prompting some interesting new and original commentary from both sides of the debate, and hadn't yet managed to attract the attention of some key players (Beretta seemed to be absent from the site while the thread was playing out its short but colourful life). It was even commended by Adminnemooseus in the Post of the Month forum, before he decided to close it
Please reopen Why is the Intelligent Designer so inept?
