age
don't forget the increasing rate of mutation which occurs in sperm of older males of any species. The best studied is human of course but the mechanism is likely in most older reproducing individuals.

Re: age
Hi Taz
Except that then those mutations become heritable i.e. germline mutations passed on to offspring. My old lab was working at looking at what happens to genomic imprinting with age...don't know what the end result was..it was in mice though not humans.
Older women also have a higher chance of having a child with Downs syndrome so age also appears to yield large scale genetic abnormalities in the germline...but since this is also transmitted vertically, it would seem to be a standard mutation qualitatively though the causal factors remain obscure.
Actually, is there anything good about getting older?

Re: Original Thread Restored
It is not a question of getting along. It is common ordinary civility which is neither required nor expected at Evcforum. I'll be happy to rejoin your forum when you enforce some standard of respectable communication. Scott Page would not be tolerated anywhere else. In the meantime I remain silent. salty

Re: Original Thread Restored
Hi salty,
There is some reinforcment i.e. when someone regularly gets out of hand they can be suspended (not that it ever happened to me )and if it persists, they get banned. I will point out (since he seems to be the object of your ire) that Scott has been suspended before so it is not that he is completely free to say things any way he likes.
However, in any situation you will encounter those who are not civil or behave the way you wish...it should not be a reason to hide.
Maybe Admin would like to comment further?

Based on the mice thing, you might find it interesting to read "Nature via Nurture" by Riding.

Re: Original Thread Restored
I am no expert on forum etiquette, but I do not know of another forum that would tolerate some of things that go on here. Also it seems Borgher won't be back, even if he was invited. He and I seem to have set records at brainstorms anyway, the Manifesto with 171 and Borgher with over 120 and still going strong. I'll be happy to return if things change for the better. I don't know about Borgher. salty

What a whining intellectual sissy.
Sorry just plain Mad Davison, aka John "My heros are beyond reproach and they would agree with me, except when they wouldn't , and when they wouildn't it is OK because I dfon't agree with everything they would have agreed with" Daqvison, that I am not about to let you get away with your simpleton's charade of 'debate'.
Answer the simple, straightforward questions or any rational person will have to conclude that you can't.

OutOfDate:

Unfortunately, those conditions do not prevail at evcforum, largely through the tolerance of Scott Page. I suspect this is the only forum from which he has not been banned
As with your pitiful "hypothesis", you suspect incorrectly.
However, it is clear that at no forums are you able to address, much less acknowledge, the short-comings of relying on out of date material upon which to premise an hypothesis, not to mention material that contradicts your claims. How that Italian rag accepts papers from you is a mystery...

That Italian rag has been around since 1919. Scott, you are losing it. Can't you please edit your posts? You are a poster boy for Darwinian intolerance and no credit to this forum. salty

I learned long ago that there are two types I cannot communicate with: Biblical literalists and dedicated, rabid Darwinian atheists like yourself. Keep raving as it is perfect proof of your insecurity. salty

Warning to both Salty and SLPx
Be nice now. At least keep you whinings out of this topic, and any other topics such things don't belong in.
I suggest you each ignore the other.
