Evolutionists and Creationists: Do you have controversial friends?

This topic is addressed to both Evolutionists and Creationists.For Creationists: Do you have any close friends who are staunch Evolutionists? Does the issue ever become a topic between you? I do have a few friends that are strict creationists. Coincidently, they also suck in science classes.

I don't have any creationist friends, but I do have some creationists in the family. It's amounted to a few arguments and uncomfortable dealings. Said family members also attend the "The Cool Church" with the pastor who drives a sports car and whose wife just got another breast enhancement.Do others have more creationist family than friends as well?

Ha ha ha ha ha. At least they believe that God wants us to be happy.Me, I have one friend who is a Seventh Day Adventist, but he won't commit himself one way or the other on the evolution/creation issue. I have a few friends that I assume accept ToE. The rest I don't know about. Of my colleagues at work one is a Catholic who I know accepts ToE, and the rest I don't know about.

Pretty much everybody I know is a creationist of one kind or another. My close friends include Muslims, Christians, Bhudists and even Bahiai.They all know my own views on the subject of evolution. Generally we either just discuss it philosophically for fun or else we avoid the subject completely.It never really caused any problems to my knowledge.This message has been edited by PurpleYouko, 11-03-2005 06:27 PM

i used to i think... they have since quit talking to me for unrelated issues.it was never really a problem as i tend to be very non-confrontational. the bigger problem has always lied with discussion of sexual freedom with both family and friends. case in point, yesterday my mother's naivete ran out. she hasn't called me back yet.....*insert nervous breakdown*

Phat I had creationist friends but I can shoot straight and they were poor runners so,no,they were not much of a challenge. They make good eating but they's a little tough from all the abuse they take.

i dated a fundamentalist. creation/evolution was something we just didn't talk about, because we knew it would lead to fights. similarly, we tried not to talk about religion much even though we were both christians. we had some very different views.needless to say, that caused a lot of problems.we're still close friends, however.

eh, whatever. just let it go. trust me, it's much easier. your mother is crazy, she'll always be crazy. your life will be easier if you just ignore her from time to time.how do you think i deal with my mother (whose naivete has yet to run out)?

yes well. everytime i ignore crazy people, they tend to decide that i'm not worth anything.

Once a person graduates to friend status, acceptance of who she/he is - is complete.
The idea is to be respectful of the choices friend(s) have made. No reproach, no chastisement, no criticism, no doomsday warnings, no pronouncements of 'God's gonna get you for that'.
It is much easier for me to go where my evolutionist friend is, than it is for him to come where I am. Perhaps that is natural.
