Wow, does that mean that I should pray to God to cure genetic disease, or is it a better bet to rely on science and evolutionary theory to understand genetic disease? I wonder which one will yield better results? Prayer.

Yeah, prayer really helped my mother when she died of polio a year before the vaccine came out.

quote: The Church tried hard to squelch any ideas, including science, which it perceived as threatening it's absolute authority to dictate the reality of the universe and nature. Remember what happened to Galileo? It was only religious people, in general, who were wealthy and educated enough to think about science; it was mostly only religious people who had access to books, or were literate, for instance. So, it's no surprise that early scientific thought came from them. Also, it was not wise at that time to question the existence of God or the veracity of the Catholic Church; it could get you imprisoned, or exiled, or worse. Remember also that science really begins with the Ancients, who were polytheistic.
quote: That is true now, but it was only recently that the Pope accepted evolution and pardoned Galileo. The Church is only a couple of hundred years behind modern scientific thought.

I went into anaphylactic shock and almost died from a severe allergic reaction to a bee sting when I was 6 years old.
By your reasoning, it was a waste of time, money, and pain for my parents to take me to get an allergy shot once a week for an entire year so my body would not overreact to honeybee venom and kill me. We all should have just prayed about it.

quote: there are numerous thousands of abductions happening everyday over all the earth... I have read so many accounts of the technologically-advanced power of space aliens that I can not even begin to start...I implore the aliens that they open your eyes, certainly that they remove the blinders from your eyes that have masked you from this. Here is one you can start with .. "Abduction".. any of them will have repleat accounts of technologically advanced powers... here is another, certainly you have a alien abduction support group in your area, go and talk to some of there people and certainly you will find that even in your own community there have been abductions... Look up John Mack, PhD... you don't have to look very far.. ask your family members which are abductees...

Jesuslover153 writes: I believe that we do not need to wait till 'we get there' to know the will of God, if we would accept humbleness before our Maker than we can know his will, after all he is very open to our questions and he most certainly answers them... Are you aware of a study carried out quite recently on religioustolerance.org, to test whether we can discover God's will? Religious conservatives were asked to pray to find out God's will regarding a topical issue - same-sex marriages. They reported back on what they believed God's response was to their question. Now, if God has a will regarding same-sex marriages, you'd think all these people would report back the same result - yay or nay. Yet, even those who were adamant that they *were* reporting back God's will after sincere prayer, had conflicting answers from God. So - how do you discover the will of God? Certainly not through prayer. ------------------o--greyline--o

Now greyline, it's pretty obvious that only the True Christians(TM) would have a better-than-random chance of getting the real Answer!

God has a soveirgn will and his written will...
his written will = the bible his soveirgn will = what ever he chooses to do God hates the sin and loves the sinner... thank God heaven is not about our sex or food or drinking or rules.. but that it is by faith in God, the willingness to humble ourselves before our Creator

I do not doubt that there are angelic beings that have fallen from heaven and do such attrocities as these abductions, and certainly they may have the capacity to build advanced technologies... but I do certainly believe that no matter what circumstance they still are not God and will not take his place.

I will say homosexuality is certainly a sin, and if anyone is suffering from it and would like to receive some help...
Desert Stream A word of caution.. don't just take any humans word for the things of life, but rather take those humans words of those humans whom even though being sinners they humbled themselves before God and received help in there time of need.

The Quran declares the Bible to be a true revelation of God and demands faith in the Bible. Sura 2:40-42,126,136,285; 3:3,71,93; 4:47,136; 5:47-51, 69,71-72; 6:91; 10:37,94; 21:7; 29:45,46; 35:31; 46:11
All these above texts presuppose the availability of the true revelation of God to the people of Muhammad’s day. Sura 3:71,93; 10:94; 21:71 A true Muslim is obliged to believe in all the revelations of God. Sura 2:136; 4:136; 29:46 The Quran makes no distinction between God’s revelations Sura 2:136 The Qur’an claims that no one can change the Word of God. Sura 6:34; 10:34 Passages where Jesus is unquestionably called God Heb 1:8 Father addresses son as GodJn 1:1 The word was God Phil 2:6-8 Jesus existed in the form of God Jn 20:28 'My Lord and My God Isa 7:14 "A Child Will Be Born And His Name Is Called": "Emanuel: God with us" Isa 9:6 "A Child Will Be Born And His Name Is Called": "Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace" More than a just a prophet: Jn 6Jn 5:17,18 I and Father are working: equality Jn 8:53-59 "Tell them "I AM" sent you." (see Ex 3:14) Jn 10:30-33 I and Father are one: equality peace,~j [This message has been edited by graedek, 03-29-2003]

If you were to read the bible you would see that we only in truth have one maybe two rules.. first is to believen his only begotten son Jesus the Christ and second is to love each other as he loved us.

I have to assume that our Lord God also will judge them for sin, read right after the flood when God gives permission for us to eat animals and he is talking about accounting for blood... I do believe he says that an animal will be judged for taking a life.. correct me if I am wrong...
