I think the Showcase, however we dress it up, is just a rather cruel and shameful place for mentally ill people.... it just would just feed into your psychosis.
A sample of CKs post is pasted above. Condensed down the content is rant and the standard Darwinian "you are crazy" stuff = inability to refute.
The Bible, written when it was CLAIMS to correspond with reality - this is how we can test its veracity.
John 10:20
And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?
CK gave reality correspondence to the Bible and supported its veracity with his age-old "argument" - an argument that they used on Jesus. Because I am a Christian this places me in good company with Him; and of course we know the Bible says that all opposition to Christ are from persons controlled by Satan.

This is the strangest forum I have participated in.
Since joining it I have been struggling to understand a lot of things about this forum. First there was the messages from moderators right there in the threads, and then I realized there was no personal message system. The strict review of new topics was hard to get used to, but maybe its a good idea. But before the one topic I proposed was accepted I struggled to understand criteria used in judging other proposals.
And now what seems to be the most senior of members with 5130 posts (randman) has been yanked from our threads into "showcase" for reasons unknown. Is it a punishment or an honor? I feel more than a little baffled.
I must admit however that the quality of posts and discussion here is pretty impressive.

Re: This is the strangest forum I have participated in.
Being a proflific poster doesn't equate to seniority. Randman is only registered from May 2005.
The reasons are the same as for everyone else in Showcase, a perceived refusal to follow the forum guidelines. The move to showcase rather than being banned is in recognition of the fact there are some people who refuse to follow those guidelines but may still have something interesting to contribute to the debate.
I have to say that the current showings in showcase would tend to belie that idea. Randman at least has some coherent and interesting ideas, perhaps the less busy environment of the showcase form will allow that to be appreciated again.

WK

Re: This is the strangest forum I have participated in.
Where is Randman banished to the showcase? I don't see any announcement?
How is his behaviour significantly different or even worse than Faith (who's argument in the science forums consists of "it does not say that in the bible therefore it's wrong" over and over again?
I think he should stay in the general population rather than move to the sectioned forum.

Re: This is the strangest forum I have participated in.
Is there a secondary intention there - to try and generate some interest in the showcase forum ? I can see Randman attracting a number of opponents.
Hopefully the dust in that forum will not get in Randman's eyes.

Access request
I request access to a new thread in Showcase where randman and I can continue our unfinished conversation started in the thread The implications of quantum physics. without moving the whole thread into Showcase, so that the original thread remains a free discussion of the issue in the EvC forum.

Re: Access request
Hey, I can post over here. Didn't know that. Mitchell, I asked that the whole thread be moved but also kept over there so that there are 2 threads that can diverge from that point. The reason is that there are a few others that I was talking with as well, and that way, the thread can progress in both forums. You may not realize this, but I was particularly interested and glad to see your thread as it is a topic I have brought up quite a bit here, and with little support for some of the common ideas you and I agreed on thus far (I realize we disagree as well).

Re: Access request
That is fine with me, but there is some resistance to keeping it open in both places. Maybe someone thinks the whole discussion belongs in Showcase:
Showcase writes:
This forum hosts those with the most controversial or unusual viewpoints, giving them an opportunity to showcase their ideas in discussion with selected EvC Forum members.
Since the failure of the dream of the logical positivist, it seems like metaphysics (the study of the nature of reality) is a forbidden subject. It is as if it was decided that if the logical positivists could not get what they wanted then the whole subject of metaphysics must be meaningless. Many simply do not care because the physics obviously must be consulted, which gives the physicists an "unfair" advantage.

Re: Access request
Just let it be moved over and we can request that anyone that wants have permission to post. I suspect there will be the same level of responses.
Btw, I think you are right, if I am hearing you correctly, on the reaction to physics and metaphysics. In fact, imo, the evo community has not really adjusted to the implications of QM, but then again, very few have. I once suggested a possible ID mechanism within QM, but we can discuss it over at Showcase.
The good news with all this controversy is truly objectionable posters can be booted off the thread, but there will still be more of a wide-ranging discussion without moderation. If it doesn't work, you can bring the topic back over to the general forum, but let's see if we can make it work. Parasomnium and cavediver seemed like they would participate. It's a subject of immense significance as far as science.

Showcase Topic Suggestion
I started this reply on Message 27 but moved here to be more on topic
How about {if\when} a topic is moved to the {{showcase}} forum that all participants in that thread are given automatic permission to participate in that {{showcase thread}}, then all admin needs to do is monitor to see if anyone needs to be restricted from it (for whatever reason the admin thinks appropriate according to current protocols)?
This would seem to (1) make the moved threads as accessable as before and (2) not impose additional load on admins.
This also opens up the possiblitiy of any topic being moved to {{showcase}} -- consider ones with a sudden burst of off-topic posts: move to {showcase} and restrict anyone who continues {off-topic} from further participation on the thread, when it "cools-down" it can be returned where it was until the next "burst"?
What would be really cool would be a marker put on all off-topic posts like the {message mood} indicators (a big red X?) and then have these stripped out when it is moved to {{showcase}} along with the authors (the old version would have them but be closed, so no lost information).
Thus the Lucy - fact or fraud? could have been {{showcased}} to stop the off-topic posts, and still allow discussion by those staying on topic with eventual return to Human Origins and Evolution after a cool-down period.
Of course this may mean a major expansion of the {{showcase}} forum, possibly to a mirror of the other forums? (forum polyploidy?)
I know you have nothing else better to do eh?
Enjoy.
