Spycraft
Put the colored chalk mark up at the gamma signal post. When you see the ribbon hanging from the newspaper machine there will be a hard copy for you at mail drop enceladus.
Or, you can email Snowden and get a copy.

Hi Percy,
There are a lot of Facebook pages that address the debate between evolution and creation.
One really good one is:
NCSE: The National Center for Science Education
Top 5 Creationist Claims About Grand Canyon: #4 Grand Canyon Rocks Were Made By Noah’s Flood (Part I).
in my view no Facebook page at all is better than a half-baked or slapdash one.
I wonder what the benefit of a Facebook page would be? Maybe more readers and lurkers.
It can always be deleted if you don't like it.

Just go to the sign up page and click on the "I forgot my password" button, then answer the secret question (which is so secret that you are supposed to remember it) and then a new password will be sent to your previous email account. Simple.

EvC Facebook page
I agree. A couple of the boards I used to visit have facebook pages and it's really not conducive to the quality of debating EvC has. It's better suited to superficial commentary on various EvC topics, getting to know people better, and general bullshitting.
It might be pretty good advertising, though.

Re: The smoldering of EvC
As has been said before, too bad you don't seem to remember such things, Creationists hardly ever share the same point of view ...
Oh, there are some views they share.
* They all think they're speaking on God's behalf.
* They all think they're guided by supernatural wisdom rather then their fallible human intellects.
* They all think that anyone who disagrees with them is a moron, an atheist liar, possessed by Satan, etc.
* They all think that they're unquestionably right.
But apart from that, they do exhibit a remarkable diversity of opinion. Perhaps that should tell you something, Faith.

I see an EvC Facebook page more as just a way to let people who use Facebook know that we exist. Not being a Facebook user mysel, these ideas might be impractical or inappropriate, but maybe a Facebook page could also list the most active current threads, provide a place for people to upload images, provide an alternate login point (I'd have to add a hook on the EvC side), or could echo any announcements.
I also see that there's a "Developers" link at Facebook (bottom left of some pages), so there may be some interesting possibilities I'm not aware of.

Re: The smoldering of EvC
Do a little research on "historical sciences."
There are experimental (observational) sciences, whose goal is to identify and test physical laws, and historical/interpretive sciences, whose goal is to research past events and reconstruct the history of these events.
A good place to start is the paper Geological Reasoning: Geology as an interpretive and historical science, R. Frodeman, 1995 (PDF).
And a short excerpt that I liked:
quote:
Like art history, with which it shares a strongly visual component, geology is an especially hermeneutic science: the outcrop typically means nothing to the uninitiated until the geologist introduces concepts for ‘‘seeing’’ the rock.

One slip of the finger and two hours of work down the drain. Not worth it.

Here is an excellent example of the garbage flooding facebook:
Yeah, ingesting salt orally is EXACTLY the same thing as injecting it into your veins. Try that with O2 and see what happens. FFS.

Nothing personal, Roxie, but I hope you don't mind if I not do that.
Interestingly enough, there is a hidden ingredient in almost all bottled water products: hydrogen hydroxide, also known as dihydrogen oxide. Kills millions of people every year but still every level of government from federal to local is only out to get their hands on more of it.
Between that and creationism, this society is in a whole world of hurt.
OK ... that, creationism and reality TV.
... and instant coffee.
... and republicans.
... and Lite Beer.

Re: The smoldering of EvC
Water softeners use salt. Probably most people use sodium chloride (table salt), but those wishing to be more environmentally friendly use potassium chloride (costs 5x more).
Potassium is an important nutrient for athletic performance, which is why some athletes will consume a banana or two (high in potassium) during activity. Potassium chloride can be consumed directly. Instead of taking a potassium supplement before athletic activity, just add a bit from your water softener to your water bottle.
