Thus boasts the creation scientist Booboo:
quote:
Send me, (here at THIS forum) the most irrefutable, powerful evidence YOU have for evolution and I'd be glad to dissolve it in a few minutes. I read Ernst Mayr's book on evolution (he is a Harvard professor of zoology) and ALL the arguments he seems to be using against creation is out-dated and unreliable logic.
Perhaps you could provide an alternative explanation for the pattern of occurance of the GLO pseudogene in primates. Humans, chimpanzees, macaque and orangutan all share an identical crippling deletion mutation in their GLO gene which renders it useless and therefore they are dependent on dietary vitamin C. Prosimians, conventionally classified as a more distantly related group of primates, apparently have functional GLO genes. Most mammals have functional functional GLO genes.
The postulation from evolutionary science is that humans, chimpanzees, macaque and orangutans are descended from a common ancestor which had the mutated GLO gene in its genome and passed it down to its descendant species. In turn that common ancestor was descended from an earlier ancestor which it shared with prosimians, but that ancestor has a functional GLO gene.
Obviously humans, chimpanzees etc are different species but the pattern of GLO pseudogene distribution supports the existence of a previous common ancestor and subsequent macroevolution has resulted in the extant species.
So, the creationist explanation for this pattern is......?

You keep saying that there are contradictions in the Bible...
Show me an irrefutable, definite contradiction in the Bible in your next comment, and I'll show you a misconception.
There are five open topics which you started but to which you have not posted a single reply. That demonstrates, as clearly as can be, your utter inability to respond to issues. There is no reason to believe that you are either intellectually capable of responding, or of good enough faith to make it worth anyone's while discussing with you.
quote:
I'm going to believe the Bible because of the risk.
I see. Your principal motivation in these matters is fear. Now that does explain your lack of replies when your unsupported assertions are challenged.
quote:
Also, there is not much of a point in defending some of my other threads--the evolutionists there are just coming up with excuses and "propositions of science" that go against creation.
I see. So you joined an Evolution v Creation forum and posted over 10 threads, but you will not reply because the answers "go against creation." So now we have fear and bad faith. I gave you the benefit of the doubt for a while, but now I have good reason to believe my initial gut feeling.

off topic
Sorry folks, I posted hastily, for which I apologize.
The discussion of ape and human genes does not belong in this forum. wj, you may like to consider posting it in one of the Evolution forums. Who knows, maybe booboocruise will surprise us and reply there.

Re: off topic
AdminPamboli, I was simply responding to a challenge issued by Booboo on this thread. I couldn't be bothered starting a new thread on the topic. If Booboo responds, admin may wish to create the new thread. I think this unlikely as Booboo shows signs of being a troll.
BTW, your linked webpage was parody, wasn't it? I sometimes find it difficult to distinuish between satire and serious fundamentalism.

Post Moved
Okay, that post was WAAAAAY off topic, even for me. So I've moved it to the evolution forum. I'll re-edit this to provide a link once the new topic is up.
(edited again to add: Here's the url of the new thread: Booboocruise's Dissolvable Best Evidence.)

Well, the bible says that God and demons cause disease.
The bible also says that God made the sun stand still in the sky.

Sure, I would read it.

Please address my contradition that I posted in Conspirator's thread "There are no contradictions in the Bible".
It concerns that discrepancies in the timing of Jesus' death between the gospels. John is different than the other three.
I'll look for your reply over there.

Re: off topic
In response to your argument (sorry if this is in the wrong thread, but now you're using personal attacks instead of science, so I've willingly and, without your 'fear', abandoned those other threads).
The GLO-gene represents that animals can produce natural vit-C, while humans cannot. Have you ever wondered why many animals can stay in perfect shape by living off of only one or two sources of food? it's simple: their bodies are more self-sufficient in producing vitamins needed for their health. Have you ever wondered why animals in captivity often get cancer, yet those same animals in the wild DON'T? God commanded (Gen. 1:29) to eat the fruit, the vegetables, and the SEEDS! Did you know that if your diet consists of at least 10 apricot SEEDS, you will NEVER get cancer? It's true, go to any search website and type in amygdalin (the natural cancer suppressant that is found in the seeds of apricots and peaches) You'll get all kinds of websites that either sell amygdalin, apricot seeds, or teach you about why the cure for cancer has been known for hundreds of years all along.
So, why is cancer so much more common today than it was just a few centuries ago--more people eat meat, potatoes, and soda than the ones who eat fruit and seeds. When you eat an apple, it is healthy to eat the seeds. You see, "evolution" of plants and humans would have to go hand in hand in order for our common ancestors to have been self-vitamin-sufficient.
Also, did you know that the digestive enzymes of man are more closely-related to that of a chicken, and not a chimp or an orangutan. Yes, that proves we evolved from a chicken, not a chimp (LOL).
Evolutionary proof, indeed.
Try better next time.

In response to your argument (sorry if this is in the wrong thread, but now you're using personal attacks instead of science, so I've willingly and, without your 'fear', abandoned those other threads).
Some people may have begun with personal criticisms of you, but that's been in response to your maddening tendancy to abandon topics that you appear to be losing. That's hardly being a good sport, now is it? And here, you're proudly announcing that you're doing it again.
I'm sorry people may have hurt your feelings, but it's pretty clear you're using that as an excuse to abandon your sinking ships. After all, what can we assume when the exchange goes like this:
BBC: Show me proof of evolution/biblical contraditions!
Us: Here's some right here.
BBC:... (Nothing, as he abandons the thread.)
If you didn't plan to respond (say, to the topic where you asked us to show you biblical contradictions, and we did), why did you ask us to devote time and effort to showing you evidence you never planned to look at? Quite frankly, you're wasting our time, and some of us are starting to not appreciate it. Isn't that a kind of false witness?
Have you ever wondered why animals in captivity often get cancer, yet those same animals in the wild DON'T? God commanded (Gen. 1:29) to eat the fruit, the vegetables, and the SEEDS! Did you know that if your diet consists of at least 10 apricot SEEDS, you will NEVER get cancer?
My fiance had a rat, which she fed almost nothing but seeds (go to the pet store and examine the contents of rat/gerbil feed), and it died of cancer. Huge cancers. There was more cancer in the rat than there was rat. I'm pretty sure that apricot seeds were in there. How do you explain that?
Anyway, ten seeds how often? Per day? Per meal? 10 seeds EVER?
If you really believe that about apricot seeds, you're even more credulous than we might have guessed. These claims smack of hucksterism. Show me some medical double-blind studies, maybe there will be credence. But there's plenty that people say keeps cancer away - sleeping with your bed pointed north, acupuncture, all kinds of stuff. Do you believe that too?
Also, did you know that the digestive enzymes of man are more closely-related to that of a chicken, and not a chimp or an orangutan.
Citation, please?
