Your computer is messing with you. They'll do that.

Re: Making bitrate attribute display a default
Not sure if this will help, but I find the best program to work with music files is Mp3tag.
It works with many music formats and allows you to look at, edit and organize tag info. I have a couple 100 gig on my drives. This program allows me organize the tags consistently. Bit rate is shown for every file. Much easier to use than windows file properties.
Also it is free. I have given Florian a few bucks over the years.

Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts
"God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness.

Re: Making bitrate attribute display a default
Moose ABE:
ABE - Damn, did some more futzing, the same things I thought I did before, and now the bitrate column is showing up for all the music files.
But did you write down what you did so you can do it again?
I always forget what ever random walk of futzing I did when I accidently wander into the solution I was looking for. For example, my dual boot of Ubuntu and Windows 8.1. I doubt I could remember how to do that all over again.
Sounds good!

Audio problem
I've been unable to get sound for any video I've tried to watch this morning. Tried everything I can think of. I have a new wireless keyboard and mouse my nephew set up while I was away. The problem may be there.

Those things shouldn't have caused the problem, but without knowing for sure what your nephew did the possibility cannot be ruled out completely.
What OS are you on?

Intel? It says Intel Celeron but doesn't say it's an operating system.

I'm beginning to think he unplugged the speakers but I have to untangle a mess of wires to find out.

There are 5 fundamental forces. Here they in order, weakest to strongest:
gravity
the weak nuclear force
electromagnetism
the strong nuclear force
chord tangle

Re: strongest force in the universe
The probability of cord entanglement goes up exponentially with the number of cords in a closed space, but they exist in both a tangled and an untangled state which doesn't change until you try to move one of them, at which point entanglement occurs affecting all the cords.
And of cords if you're also playing chords it's not in the cards to reach the enlightened state of disentanglement.

The back panel on my home computer is made of spit and spider webs, so the speaker jack almost falls out on a regular basis. However, I only lose one speaker.

Cord entropy is inevitable, all cords will be assimilated.....resistance is futile.

(1)
Where Ent is the entanglement factor. Also known as mess.
w1 is the number of cables of diameter d1 in cm
w2 is the number of cables of diameter d2 in cm
w3 is the number of cables of diameter d3 in cm
wt is the total number of cables
Thinner cables add a higher entanglement value than thicker cables.
Higher Ent is a higher state (mess) of entangled cables.
(2)
Where Esd is the effort value for the enlightened state of disentanglement. Also known as hassle.
Ent is the entanglement factor (mess) from equation 1
wt is the total number of cables
a is the area space you have to work within given in cm3
More cables in a smaller area increases the hassle factor.
Higher Esd is higher hassle to achieve the enlightened state of disentanglement.
Esd values < 100 are moderate efforts doable in a few minutes.
Values > 100 < 300 are accompanied by mild profanities.
Values > 300 < 800 are accompanied by perspiration and strong profanities.
Values > 800 < 1000 are accompanied by wringing perspiration, violent profanities and require alcoholic libations in recovery
Values > 1000 are left for the nephew.
Edited by AZPaul3, : values
Edited by AZPaul3, : correction. thank you, xongsmith.
