I always find it a bit humorous that the religious use Bible quotes to make their case about just about anything. Whenever they fail or come up against a strong argument (and mine wasn't) they usually resort to "the Bible says so". Besides the fact that many of us simply view the Bible as an ancient collection of disgusting war stories and impossible fairy tales, when a debater wishes to make a point he or she should use some sort of logic or reasoning, not just "See, this old crusty unbelievable book says so. Na-nee-na-nee-poo-poo!" (And yes, I actually thought this was a debate).

I don't get involved in frivolous rhetoric. "Thus saith the Lord.." means just that. We will see who is right at the judgement. Be sure to wear a name tag so I can recognise you among the hoardes being cast into the Lake of Fire. God's Word will cut through your rhetoric and pragmatic mindset faster than you realise. But then again, it's just a piece of motheaten parchment. Right?

"It sounds like you ARE knocking it to me. If you make a case like that then STAND behind it."
I am, I think Christianity is Chrit's golden rule, "love one another", nothing else. That to me is real Christianity. Everything else is interpretation, adendum, and silly "mind job" concepts. Remember, the bible is not God, it's a book. Make sure you are actually listening to what christ said, and not blindly beliving every "fact" in a dusty tombe.
It seems to me, atributing God like qualities to an old book (inerrant, divine, etc.) is tantamount to idolitry.
"As far as undersanding the Trinity, you are better off trying to solve the Rubics cube with no help. The concept of three in One intertwined is beyond our perception and understanding."
So basically what your saying, is that it is beyond all logical thought. And makes no sense to the rational mind, but we are supposed to swallow it whole? Ok.
"ONLY GOd is worthy of worship. Man is NOT a deity. "Ye shall be as gods..." Yeah right!"
Ya, I agree, so sto worshiping the Bible.

Hmmm. This might mean you won't be at the Beach Party With Ham and Pineapple Pizza in the Sky when Her Holiness, the Invisible Pink Unicorn (PBUHHH!), calls us all home. You might even end up in the Place Where They Get Mashed Turnips and Lukewarm Water instead. Better wear your nametag, too, Theo.

Real intelligent. What do you base the concept of the pink Unicorn on? At least I have a text that supports my beliefs. Since the Bible is God's word given to us, it is trustworthy. If you choose to beleive that God can lie, I can't convince you otherwise. II Cor. 4:4
Am I casting my pearls before swine?

I thought everything that happened was as God willed it?
quote:
God intitiated the process by giving us reproductive organs but the results are limited to the chemical make-up of the parents. The cleaner the life of the parents, the less the chance of deformity. My sister died at the age of 2 from a blocked kidney. Prior to her birth, my parents were both heavy drinkers of alchohol.
But your SISTER was not a heavy drinker. Yet she was the one who was "deformed". Or is this one of those "sins of the father will be visited..." - another bible contradiction.
quote:
God never intended for us to have chemicals put into our bodies. It's obvious these poisons will cause adverse effects.
You are confusing known biological causes with sin. Are you suggesting that every deformed or sick baby results from the parents sinning? This means that, statistically, the people most pleasing in God's eyes should have the fewest deformed children. This is clearly not the case.
You have also entirely ignored inherited genetic defects caused by the parents' *God-given* faulty genes - these are the kinds of deformities I was refering to with my "hypothetical" baby who dies young.

Her Holiness the Invisible Pink Unicorn (PBUHHH!) has a website, which is much more with the times than some parchment. You may even email Her actual prophets, and sometimes even get an answer. And I know that She must exist, as I didn't see Her just yesterday evening.
Are you calling me a pig? I did attend the University of Arkansas, and their graduates are affectionately known as the Hogs.....

Theologian63,
You can throw up hypotheticals all day. What you don't realise is that GOD doesn't make the deformed, SIN does.
Sin made thalidomide?
Perhaps deformation is caused by many factors, drugs, genetics, & developemental issues, & not a vicious bastard deity at all? I have seen no study that shows clean living mass murderers are more likely to have deformed children. But then, children are innocent, only an egotistical bastard of a deity that claims to give us our morality would contradict that morality & punish the innocent, right? It probably takes some serious juggling to reconcile yourself to having a child that has it's guts born outside its abdomen, & be able to say, "oh, well, that stupid bitch shouldn't have eaten the apple."
It hasn't happened to you, has it theologian? Want me to hand you over to my partner who deals with God's vehemence every day? You, nor your vicious, snide deity will not come out smelling of roses. Maybe you should visit an accute peadiatric ward & see the suffering your God visits upon people.? But I doubt you have the stomach for the reality of a children born with no kidneys, a penis AND a vagina, a urethra that connects to neither, an intestine a fraction (useless) of the usual length, ALL ON THE OUTSIDE.....
I often hope I am mistaken in my agnosticism, I am damn sure, however, that I hope am not mistaken at the expense of a biblical literalist Yahweh, who deliberately vistits such suffering at random, allegedly for someone elses trivial "crime". What's wrong with you people?
Mark

...In addition maybe the abortionists are doing the unborn a favor - by giving them an express pass to the promised land. Is that such a bad thing - if that's the real goal of our existence anyway? Just some food for thought.
I notice Theologian responded to your pearly gate comment and failed to reply to the logic in your subsequent comment in the same post. Why did that happen? Theologian?

Someone reads too much bible.
And/or goes to too many Sunday morning indoctrinations. Her Horniness the Invisible Pink Unicorn created the entire universe last Tuesday morning, with all appearances of great age, including your and my memories, and your and my holy texts. I defy you to prove me wrong.
Do you have any idea, Theo, how bad mashed turnips and lukewarm water start to taste after a few millenia?

Well, Bob, Theologian63 has won himself a lifetime of anguish in someone else's hell! Yes, that's right. After spending all of his life fighting against Satan and worshipping the Christian god, Theologian63 gets a reward of going straight to Hades for his hubris. He'll be sentenced to solve a series of puzzles for which the instructions can be read in many ways. Every attempt to glean more information will be met with "Since it would just be a waste of my time to tell you, I won't." Of course, every proposed solution will conflict with something in the contradictory instructions. This being for his continued insistence that those around him are unworthy of explanations.
But, he won't get hungry because he'll have an afterlife-time supply of Rice-a-Roni, the San Francisco Treat.
You didn't really think that the god that truly exists is the Christian one, did you?
