I am considering going to World Cup '06 in Germany. Just as a hairbrained idea, I was wondering if anyone from EvC was considering going as well. Mammuthus, of course, is already on the list. If I do go I will try my hardest to make it to his neck of the woods (or Fatherland, whatever). I am assuming that a few of our British regulars are considering going as well.
I think it would be a great time, tipping back a few steins with fellow EvC'ers. Anyone even a little interested?
Added in Edit:
I am mentioning this now because the lotteries for tickets are starting. There will be several rounds, but you have the best chances if you enter multiple times (at least that is what I have been told). Also, you can also choose venue/city preferrences which would be important if we all want to meet up.

Side admin comment about "Short Subjects" forum
For the record, this is the type of topic for which I originally created the "Short Subjects" forum. That forum was originally called "Short Term Topics and Messages". It was intended for non-admin anouncements and the like, and not for debate topics. The thought was that the short term interest topics would be deleted after their short term purpose was completed.
That said, I'm not going to bother moving the topic.

Re: Side admin comment about "Short Subjects" forum
I thought about putting this in Short Subjects, but World Cup is a year away. Not exactly a short term subject. I was hoping that if my crazy idea takes off that it would be updated regularly over the next year.
Perhaps "Links and Information" would be a better place?

I think we all know who's not invited if you know what I mean...
I might actually go if I have the money. I have about a year to win the lottery. Wish me luck.

Hi Loudmouth,
Munich is building the worlds ugliest stadium for the world cup. I have to see it every day when I drive to my institute....if you shot the Michelin Man's butt off with a rifle, the piece that falls to the ground would look just like the stadium. It is also the source of a major bribery scandal...they should have bribed the architect to stay off the drugs when designing the thing.
Don't know if I will go to any games...kind of find soccer about as exciting as competitive basket weaving....but I would be around for a beer, or two..or three..ok, ok, a keg... to share with you EvC hooligans after the games.
