Matthew 24:22 "And except those days should be
Shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for
the elect' sake those days shall be shortened.
You don't know how many people are "the elect". It could be all but five people - or all but five thousand people. The technology of 2000 years ago could easily have wiped out five thousand people.
candle2 writes:
The crowd at that time didn't witness total
destruction. Only this present generation can see
all that is mentioned in chapter 24.
But Jesus wasn't talking to our generation. He was talking to the people who were alive THEN, the people right in front of Him. THEY didn't witness total destruction. Therefore the prophecy failed.
candle2 writes:
I guess my reference to Revelation 11 was also
beyond you understanding.
It was beyond my interest. As I said, you can't use Revelation to prop up your misuse of Matthew.
candle2 writes:
Only the generation that sees all these things,
including the great tribulation mentioned in
verse 22, can qualify as being among those in
"this generation."
Wrong. Only the ones who WERE in that generation can qualify as being among those in "this generation."
You're thinking backwards. You assume that the prophecy MUST have been true, so somebody MUST see what was prophesied. The correct logic is: They DIDN'T see what was prophesied, therefore the prophecy failed.

Nashville has a metro of roughly 2,000,000 inhabitants.
It has a much higher population than did Jerusalem 2000
years ago.
Also, Nashville is a major city, with residents and visitors
coming from many parts of the world.
It is a world recognized city.

I'm saying that the prophecies Jesus stated have not come
to fruition yet. Once these specific events set in motion they
will not carry on indefinitely.
Many who are alive at the beginning of the sorrows will be
alive at the end. Jesus is telling the generation that witnesses
these events to take heed.
The generation that He was speaking to witnessed the
events that He foretold.
I can cite you many more end-time prophecies that states
the same things Jesus said.
If you want to see some let me know.
However, if you wish to cling to your fairy tale that a frog
turned into a man (prince) over eons of time then have
at it.

But it isn’t population size that matters. It’s the number - and variety - of foreign visitors.

And I'm saying that they were supposed to come to fruition during the lives of the people Jesus was talking to. They didn't - i.e the prophecy failed. You can't just re-define "this generation" to force the prophecy to come true.
candle2 writes:

That's irrelevant. They had to be alive when Jesus spoke to them.
candle2 writes:

There is no reason to think He was speaking about any generation other than the generation He was speaking to.

I have been looking at those so-called "end times" prophecies for more than fifty years. I don't think I need any education from you.
The AntiChrist used to be Napoleon. Then it was Hitler. Then it was Stalin. Now some people likely think it's Putin and some other people likely think it's somebody else. The commentaries on prophecy are very fluid.

This topic isn't about evolution. Try to be wrong about one thing at a time.

Okay Paulk,, who were the two witnesses? For them to
draw that much attention they much have been really
important.

So you're still unrepentantly lying about evolution. And I'd bet that you are still lying about radiocarbon dating too. Just as you've been lying about everything else, most recently by repeating GQP lies (GQP is the GOP/QAnon hybrid trying to destroy America). For that matter, you have lied so constantly here that nobody can believe a word you say.
Could you please specify which god it is that you worship and can serve only through lies?

You haven’t actually read the chapter have you? You’re just cribbing some apologist’s notes. Because if you had read it the reasons for the interest would be rather obvious.

Paulk, are you okay? You stated in an earlier post that
the Bible says the final battle was Actium, which set up
the Diadochi kingdoms.
Later you stated that the two witness were killed 2000
years ago. Furthermore, you stated that the phrase about
all people, kindred, tongues, and nations referred to
Only the inhabitants of Jerusalem, where they were
killed.
Since these two witnesses of God were so despised,
you must know who they are.
It's a simple question, who were they.
Moreover, you now state that this event has not happened
yet, as I've already stated. It is an end-time prophecy.

Dwise 1, I asked you some questions. I always like to know
what type of man that I'm dealing with.
The God that I worship is Jesus and His Father.

I certainly did not. I pointed out that the battle of Actium ENDED the last of the Diadochi kingdoms, running out the time limit on Daniel 8.

Later you stated that the two witness were killed 2000
years ago.
I said no such thing.

I did not. I pointed out that the phrase could be satisfied by foreign visitors.

Yes, the prophecy failed, just like the Daniel 8 prophecy failed.
It’s simple to understand.

Ringo, Ringo, Ringo. The Gospel of Matthew was
written roughly 50 years after the death of Christ.
At that time the event had not happened. Others,
alive at the time would have stoned him for being
an idiot, if they had thought that he was referring
to an event that had already happened.
He knew exactly what Jesus was referring to. It
was an end-time event.

The God that I worship is Jesus and His Father.
Which is clearly not true. A lie, though in order for that to establish you as a liar would require that you know it's a lie. I assume that you are ignorant of that fact.
Didn't Jesus identify himself as "The Truth"? How could "The Truth" be served by constant lies, deception, and disinformation?
There is only one Christian deity I can think of who is served by lies. It's sure not YHWH!
You have some very serious self-reflection to do.
Dwise 1, I asked you some questions.
Really? Please point them out.
We asked you many questions which you avoided. And still avoid. They mainly pertained to your persistent lies about evolution (AND your willful stupidity of refusing to even look at explanations of how evolution actually works -- see Message 484), to your lies about radiocarbon dating (including your "I know how carbon dating works." which is a very obvious and flagrant lie), and to your appeal to the probability of "multiple fulfilled prophesies" which you clearly misunderstand but refuse to discuss.
Please explain to me again how constant lying and disinformation is supposed to be the way to serve "The Truth".
I always like to know what type of man that I'm dealing with.
I am the type of man who seeks the truth. Since creationists are bad-faith actors who hate the truth, my decades of experience with them and their constant lies has worn my patience rather thin.
Unfortunately, we know all too well what type of a man you are.

And again, please explain to me how constant lying and disinformation is supposed to be the way to serve "The Truth". It should be intuitively obvious to even the most casual observer that such conduct is far more conducive to serving Satan.

Stoned whom?

I have pointed out more than once that you can not re-define "this generation" to mean some other generation. That's the only issue here. Deal with that.
