Did you know that the virgin birth is misquoted in the Bible? If you read in Matthew:
quote:
Matthew 1 (NIV)
22All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23"The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"[4] --which means, "God with us."
Now the footnote [4] says "1:23 Isaiah 7:14" (NIV).
Matthew was referring to the prophet Isaiah. In Isaiah 7:14, Isaiah states that a child will be born to a virgin, but this is not a prediction of Jesus Christ. The baby which was to be born to the virgin has nothing to do with the messiah. He was born while the Jews were under attack by the Assyrians [?]. He was, I think, supposed to end the fighting or be a sign. I am really not sure of the last part, his purpose, but I can assure you he had nothing to do with the Messiah. If you don't believe me, read the passages.
