I have a dream that one day, soon, we will acknowledge that we are one species, one people, and that a difference in philosophy is not sufficient reason to hate and to kill.

I agree and add, that one day humans will come to rely on common sense instead of conditioned reasoning.
There is no better love between 2 people than mutual respect for each other

"common sense" is a terrible thing to depend on. scientific thought has to be taught, has to be "conditioned" because it's so non-human to think that way. "common sense" creates myths and superstition.

Actually the "conditioned" leads to myths & superstitions, especially when the conditioning occurs when the conditinee is a child.

Personally, I'd love to see people using their common sense to send robots to Mars. That'd be the day.
I have a dream that one day we wouldn't need to have a dream at all. The fact that we have dreams at all tells me that we are far from a perfect world.

Yes, it is only 45 years after I first heard Martin Luther King's "I have a Dream" speech. Reading it, hearing excerpts of it, still brings a tear to my eye and stirs the emotions for freedom and equality and justice.
And this year, pride as well. Pride that America has turned away from the shallow falseness of the Bush administration, yes, but pride even more that we, as a nation, have not allowed discrimination to affect an election, an election that will go down in history as part of that Dream:I have a dream, that America will regain it's balance from the stumbling ineptitude of the Bush years, and once again take it's place as a Nation dedicated to truth, justice, equality and freedom. A nation that will hold these values inviolate even in the face of challenges of terrorism or the equally malevolent prejudices within. A nation that realizes that sacrificing any one of them for momentary security is to fail the American Dream."I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today." I have a dream, that the people of America will be more important to government than the big businesses. That the welfare of the people will come first. That the well being of the workers of America will once again be seen as the foundation of the well being of the nation I have a dream, that America will once again become a beacon of hope for people struggling under oppression, to looked to as an example of what could be for nations trying to build a new future. Enjoy. I have a dream that the United States will be divided by 1000 latitude and longitude lines. The area within each 1,000,000 states will have an unchangable constitution which identifies exactly which activities are legal within that state.
Then, for example, murders can get together and murder each other in a state where murder is perfectly legal. Or, taxers can get together and tax each other. Or people who wanted to teach evolution can get together. It would be a beautiful laboratory where we could see which social orders were successful and which were not. And, as nearly everyone wants, it would result in a system where no one could force anyone to do anything!!! Oh, except for those who live in a state where forcing each other is perfectly legal.

Hi, BobAliceEve,
I have a dream that they would do that somewhere else, but publish their results here so we could benefit from the study. I'm Bluejay. Darwin loves you.

Hey Mantis,
I have a dream that they would do that somewhere else, but publish their results here so we could benefit from the study. I notice two things, (1) BobAliceEve does not mention which little square he wants to inhabit, and (2) that practically speaking you would need one square for each individual (try to get two people to agree on everything). And of course, one should also start with a pilot study: where such isolationist people all get together and form one community of like-minded people, and demonstrate that they can run their affairs without depending on the rest of the world. Curiously, the Dream is about people living together, accepting others as they are, and not about being isolationist and divisive. Hi, RAZD.
RAZD writes: I notice two things, (1) BobAliceEve does not mention which little square he wants to inhabit, and (2) that practically speaking you would need one square for each individual (try to get two people to agree on everything). I wasn't really being serious. Being heavily introverted and not particularly social, I kind of like several aspects of a grassroots system (wherein I could be generally left in peace to "do my thing"). However, I recognize that diversity brings with it the power to solve more problems because different groups inevitably have experience in different areas, so I also like some aspects of international and supranational systems. If only there could be an international organization of diverse grassroots communities (IODGC), maybe then I'd be completely happy. I'm Bluejay. Darwin loves you.
