i would have used more sources if i could have. (might i add, i go to a university very prone to jewish apologistics? these aren't textbooks, they're scholarly works. look who they cite.) and you're being ridiculous. i'm sure you would find plenty of sources to defend your position. but it's still wrong.
you tell me one group. just one that bothered to stand up to the nazis. just one. *pregnant pause* guess what. you're wrong.there were like three very small resistance movements including the white rose. and the allies didn't get involved until hitler moved against france. the genocides ongoing in germany were well known. did anyone care? no. because no one cares about other people until it suits their own interests just like you prolly don't give a crap about genocide unless it allows you to attack christians. me? my first book will be written on genocide. i don't care about the christians. you know what. they murdered and raped and pillaged in the 'holy land' for centuries and they carried out the spanish inquisition and they fought back and forth and killed a bazillion people in england and are still fighting in ireland. they're a finicky, ridiculous bunch. but misinformation on their role in the third reich? that's not only dishonest, it's irresponsible. you can't blame all the world's problems on christians. This message has been edited by brennakimi, 12-13-2005 12:57 AM you know what. this has me so incensed. i'd like it moved to a new thread entitled 'who led the nazi movement'. scholarly citations only. no wikipedia. period. Christians enacted the Holocaust, not scientologists. nazis were strongly revisionist. they went searching for judeo/christian relics to add to their glory, but that really don't say much when you consider the fact that they also went searching for atlantis. the common belief among the nazi elite was that the aryan race came from outer space. that's why their blood was more pure than anyone else's, and why they were so worried about diluting it with the dirty jews, gypsies, etc. now, i won't say this represented the majority of nazi belief; it didn't. but their higher mythology was very similar to the higher mythology of the scientologists. only the higher-ups knew it, and it involved space aliens. i think the comparison is a rather good one. the holocaust was a largely political movement, designed to remove the influence of outsiders, those with prior alleigences, and dissent. this was how it was sold to the lower levels of command. for the commoners, they probably did adopt christian symbols, and a good many christians probably did follow it. but to describe it as a "christian movement" is kind of absurdly overkill. they sought to adopt christianity and appeal to christian, sure. but that doesn't make them christian any more than it made them former citizens of atlantis.
[qs]This is all more than off-topic anyway - I won't respond again in this thread./qs seriously. you guys need to shuttup. both of you. and brenna honestly knows what she's talking about.

Here`s a conservative Christian`s viewpoint on Christianity and Nazis. Notice the excerpts from Mein Kampf.
Gott Mit Uns? - LewRockwell LewRockwell.com BTW, I`ll think you`ll find the Katyn Forest massacre was carried out on Stalin`s orders.

Hi B,
Phat knows full well that I am just teasing him, probably everyone else knows this too. Phat and I have a good relationship, and he knows that I would not deliberately insult him, it was just a wee joke, so take it easy. Brian.

Hi,
Well, keeping it on topic, could God have stopped the Holocaust if He wanted too? Brian.

Quite right (at least for me). And I thought it was great fun, too (sorry Phat).

why do people quote conservative christians at me?
that's nice. really. i am well aware of the power of propaganda. but the religious bent of the populous of germany has no bearing on the religious views of the nazi party.

that's purely argumentative. i have the tendency to believe in a laissez passer god. he wants humans to come to their own accomplishments. if we destroy ourselves, then we destroy ourselves. if we create unity, then we create unity. he is not a hand-holder, he is seeking a partner who has found wisdom. you find wisdom through mistakes.
if he had wanted to, sure. does his lack of interference mean that he's somehow evil? no, not really. if you lock your child in a cage so that he is never able to burn himself on the stove, he will never learn that the stove is to be understood and respected. if we never experience tragedy, we will never understand that human ambition must be tempered.

It's also known as the "crux gammata", the "sun cross", and the "cross cramponny". The Germans called it the "hakenkreuz": "hooked cross." Cheers! Christians enacted the Holocaust, not scientologists. "By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." - John 13:35
