Re: Reply to robinrohan
I have been following it, and there was some unnecessary bickering about it being in a science forum.
But here's the point, and this is what occasioned the whole discussion about a "science forum": Did the OP "provide evidence"?
The OP was just a bunch of psychological speculation and never pretended to be anything other than that.
So what's the difference, in terms of evidence, between that and what Faith said?

Re: Reply to robinrohan
I'm happy to start a new thread.
In fact I'm going to propose a new topic in the PNT forum shortly.
RR, you can join me once it is promoted.
AbE: Whoops, just noticed that Ben beat me to it. Thanks, Ben.
I have a feeling that Zhimbo will also be happy to join the conversation, as he actualy is a Cognitive scientist.

Great Job
EvC is fast becoming a joke.
What was once the best discussion board on the Net now has as much credibility as Kent Hovind's P.hd.
Percy's vision was to build a board that encouraged academic discussion, but we are now trawling for people who can barely string a coherent sentence together, plus we want to make one of the nastiest people I have ever met into a an admin!
Brian.

In other words, if they don't agree with your basic beliefs, or your temperament, they should not be allowed to post.

Oh yes they do.
The religious side most certainly does intend to redefine science, to claim science proves theirm correct.

No.
I think what Brian feels is that people who show themselves to be incapable of following the Forum guidelines should not be afforded Moderator privilages and responsibilities.

What guidelines would that be? Like if you are in a science forum, you must provide evidence? That sort of thing?
Taking a look at that "ambiguity" thread, I don't see any "evidence" for the OP. Do you? I see plausible remarks, that's all.

Nothing to do with my basic beliefs and everything to do with forum guidelines .

The RAZD suspension - how long?
The announcement that RAZD is suspended (Message 273) did not list the length.
RAZD's posts contribute a lot to this site, so I hope it will be a short suspension.

Re: The RAZD suspension - how long?
and how come admin only threads are not admin only.. I've set up several boards in my time and restricting access by group is really easy... so Why can non Admins even post in these topics?

Why on earth would one suspend RAZD? What did he do?

Re: The RAZD suspension - how long?
The closest thing to a public "Admin Only" forum is the "Proposed New Topics forum. The topic in question is in the "Suggestions and Questions" forum. I have recently suggested (in the "Private Administration Forum") that we have a new "The Public Record" forum, for "Admin Only" messages, but such has not yet come to be.
I would think that a "(MESSAGES BY ADMIN ONLY)" in the topic title should be plenty clear. RAZD has also posted to that topic on previous occassions.
More seriously, much of RAZD's recent output has been attacks on the person of Mirabile_Auditu. Feel free to look at RAZD's most recent messages.
Mirabile_Auditu is (perhaps) not unlike a maddened bull, and RAZD functioned as the pictador, sinking barbs and such into said bull.
I feel no rush to lift the suspension. Perhaps another admin might feel otherwise.

Re: The RAZD suspension - how long?
Mirabile_Auditu ( having reviewed his posts) has done precious little except come in looking for an argument. Even going so far to try and pick a fight with me, accusing me of an Ad Homineim attack that simply wasn’t there. He as come in and done little more than accuse all on the Evo side of the argument of being, rude arrogant and way to fond of the personal attack. I don’t blame RAZD for being irritated by this fella ( who it seems he has a history with) and if in that irritation he has let that slip into the forums then that is regrettable but understandable.
If the balance of Mirabile_Auditu’s posts were as calm rational and considered as that of RAZD’s then I would have a problem. But they are not. MA has come in looking for a fight and regrettably RAZD took the bait.
If you wish to keep RAZD suspended for a while then MA also needs a time out.
But that’s just my opinion.

Re: The RAZD suspension - how long?
Right on, Ohnhai. I think of Razzy as a 'Defender of the Turf' rather than breaking guidelines. When fly-bys pop in and start bad-mouthing all and sundry, normal manners go on hold till the pest either pulls himself/herself into line, or moves on. Totally different scenario to debates getting heated.

RAZD is a good member
I can see where he got suspended, that's fine. You break the rules, ignore a warning, and youll get some time out. RAZD did this.
But his susspension should not be indefinete. The majority of his posts are informative and contribute greatly to the forum. I for one hope he is let back soon.
