As far as Faith returning, I have no objection, but I will say I'll move rather quickly if the kinds of problems she tends to cause resurface.
Its OK, Percy. Faith appeared briefly in chat with us and indicated no special desire to return to EvC. I wished her well in her new forum and she wanted to pass along thanks to Moose for advertising it for her.
Im guessing that she would prefer the freedom to moderate in her own forum with her own rules. We all wish her the best!

So just reactivate her account.
If she prefers to stand outside pissing in, she'll only erode the ground on which her own forum stands.
If she comes in and pisses all round, suspend her and reestablish for the record that problematic behavior.
Why let her jujitsu her banning to advantage?
Many of our best members have been suspended; it only takes a moment to suspend anyone. She will either continually document the justice of her suspensions or remain silent here and continually undermine the justification for her own forum.
I don't mean to campaign, really, or to suggest Percy did not have reasonable grounds to ban Faith. We differ on the philosophy of banning, but I recognize the reasonable consistency of his outlook.
It just seems a simple matter, one simply readdressed, if necessary.

While I have no objection if Faith's suspension is lifted, I have no interest in doing this myself.

I understood that, Admin, which is why I addressed my thoughts to Phat.
I do appreciate your position on the matter and mean no disrespect with my different view.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Just Let Them Do It
I never grieve staged suicides. That's life in the arena. That's what martyr-divas do.
Martyr-divas live for that grand finale. After suffering extravagantly at the hands of nefarious villains, they bring things to a crisis point, sing their farewell arias and immolate themselves in spectacular ways. It's a grand show, and the best kind of show: one that is all about them, them, them. Who could ask for anything more--when God himself sits in the balcony, sobbing into his hankie?
One can hardly feel sorry for a diva doing what she does best. One can only throw roses as the curtain falls.
It's great to see an experienced martyr-diva starting her own theatre. It's the next step, a chance to grow. Managing one's own company teaches a person about production costs and volunteer work and community investments. It teaches teamwork outside the spotlight. It teaches one about managing one's own divas and crazymakers.
Don't discourage a great career move. Just send a bouquet when the house opens.

Pushing our diva buttons
Ah, but they're not boring.
We are all divas during some portion of our fretful hour: shooting one of us in the act only encourages the others.
Don't misunderstand me, Archer. I don't advocate reactivating Faith's account because she has opened her own forum. I opposed her banning and have steadily supported her return since. The context and content of my advocacy have merely changed with the times, the current instance prompted by this new thread.
This is only--and somewhat trivially--an internet forum. The stakes here do not rise to the level of a permanent ban.
Go, unrepentant woman, into exile! Sheesh...exile!? Hasn't diva misbehavior met with diva response?

Real things always push back.

Jar, that is a big fat meanspirited off topic lie. This thread is about Faith and her conduct and not member Jar's thread to insult and demean the creationist constituency of EvC. Creationists use such things as archeology, fulfilled prophecy, history, laws of science and other reason/logic/reality in the forum debates. Either cease and desist using these threads for your bash-creationist agenda or you get some time off yourself.
Nothing Faith ever did was any worse than the way you use these threads to spew your demeaning insults which violate item 10 of Forum Guidelines.

If you can support your assertions, bring on the evidence. Show where I have made a personal attack. Otherwise, quit whining.
If you want to play "Billy did it too", just understand I can support my position.

You should certainly bring her back - then we can run a book on:
1) the first thread asking for her posts to be restricted
2) the first thread asking for her to be banned
3) the first thread where she walks out
4) the first thread where she's made an admin again
5) the first thread where someone asks why faith was banned again
The possibilities are endless!

Re: The Return of Faith
AdminBuzsaw, you not only argued your personal position in moderator mode but also called Jar a liar.
Do you expect to debate the issue in admin mode and not receive a response in-thread?
Your inflammatory language--e.g., "Jar, that is a big fat meanspirited off topic lie."--was clearly in violation of forum guidelines and falls short of the demeanor expected from moderators.
You set Jar up with one post, then knocked him down with another.
Shame on you.

Re: This IS NOT a moderation thread!
Omnivorous, you know the rules. If you wish to address admin/moderation action you need to do so in the moderation forum as I've already stated in my message to Jar. I repeat, this thread is not about admin action. It's about Faith and her forum, so please keep it on topic.

Re: Pushing our diva buttons
Ah, but they're not boring.
Utter predictability is always boring.
Audiences for whom a bad act is new might find it interesting at first. Once the predictability of the act becomes apparent, they lose interest, too.
Good martyr acts aren't boring. But good martyr acts don't come from people who are writing their own material.
Hasn't diva misbehavior met with diva response?
No. Martyr-divas are in the self-immolation business. It's suicide.
The game is to commit suicide in a way that invites the audience to blame others. Martyr-divas know the Ace of Spades is out there. They do whatever it takes to make it drop. How the card ultimately gets played is insignificant to the plot.
Admins aren't in the melodrama business. The job attracts people who expect to do a lot of behind-the-scenes work for a group. It's the opposite of a spotlight job. These people have a finite amount of resources and a lot of people to take care of. When one person routinely demands far more time and trouble than that person's contribution is worth, admins see someone asking for a permanent vacation.
Martyr-divas know this. Tipping that point is how they flush out the Ace.
All that remains after that is to strike the pose and play the scene.
