Same here. I certainly didn't have to scroll. However, to keep the grumpy old man happy...

My hobby is arachnostrigidoscopy - finding owls on spider-bellies.
Seriously, you don't see the owl? I barely noticed the spider in the background.

O wow, I see it now. Cool. Its a whole owl.
Do you see the face?
Its lower on the spider where all the legs come together, not on the underside of the abdomen.

Only if I look for it. Interesting how first impressions can be so different and so hard to get past.

Oh, I don't know. I've listened to songs and thought that I heard a specific line in the lyrics. Then when I looked it up and found out what he was really saying and that I was completely wrong, I couldn't even understand, much less hear, what I thought I was hearing the first time.
I couldn't even delude myself to hear my first impression.
Or what about ambiguous 3D drawings, like a stick cube, where the "front" of the cube could either be on top or on bottom. Sometimes your first impression is that its on bottom, but then when you look at it again it is on the top.
Or maybe that's just me.
But yeah, it is wierd that sometimes you can't get yourself to see something other than what you have seen. I know what you mean.

FYI: it's known as multistable perceptual phenomena. The cube you refer to is called a Necker cube. It's not a hobby of mine per se, but I have passed a lot of time with this girl. With a bit of concentration you should be able to get her to spin the 'other' way.

New here, been reading for a while, but never posted. Thought I would get my feet wet here.
I don't have any pictures but my main hobby is power lifting. Certainly not world class, but I am 54 years old, weigh about 200 pounds, and just recently bench pressed 285 pounds (that is with a 1 to 2 second pause in the down position). I might point out that I am a natural lifter, no bench shirt, no lift off and, especially, no steroids. When I had more time to train my legs I once squated 295 and dead lifted 350.
I also umpire a lot of baseball and softball. Many years ago, I did high school games, now Little League and Babe Ruth baseball and Little League and Senior League softball is all I do. I have always said that the best place to watch a baseball game from is behind the catcher. Unfortunately, too many people accuse me of not watching.

Welcome home
Glad you dropped in. Pull up a stump and set a spell. Keep your feet to the fire and the smoke never gets in your eyes.

I had (and still have) the same problem. There seem to be people who are able to switch it at will.
Some tips I've read (but they don't work consistently for me):
- watching slightly to the left or right of the gif instead of right on
- crossing your eyes
- scrolling the screen until you only see the feet, and starting by looking at it that way
- blinking your eyes at the right moment

That did it!
Wow, that thing is aswesome.
I can get her to go either way now. Sorta at will. Sometimes its hard to get her to switch so I just cover her up except for her feet and then I can get it to switch.
Amazing.

I help out a charity that preserves traditional English music:
aka folk music. I'm not pictured here, I'm often to be found in the kitchen making sure everyone is well fed:
Yarr! The catering pirate! I am pictured here, obviously. Though biased, we pay 'homage' to other cultures from time to time too:

I'm a pack rat
I tend to collect things, but things I can use. I collect knives, and fountain pens in particular.
