Well written piece that summed up the "evolution" of the topic and the human condition, sweet and concise.

[msg=14,-1657,-195] isn't POTM worthy (no offense, alacrity - and thanks for pointing this out)

I know I'm not supposed to discuss this here, but I think nominating one's own posts is very bad form, and to do it in such frightful language is very bad form squared. If you produce a sentence in which just two out of six words are spelled correctly, then I'd say the answer to your question is a resounding "NO!"
(And then you should be glad that I haven't even yet considered the dismal level of your argumentation.)

"Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge: it is those who know little, not those who know much, who so positively assert that this or that problem will never be solved by science." - Charles Darwin.
Did you know that most of the time your computer is doing nothing? What if you could make it do something really useful? Like helping scientists understand diseases? Your computer could even be instrumental in finding a cure for HIV/AIDS. Wouldn't that be something? If you agree, then join World Community Grid now and download a simple, free tool that lets you and your computer do your share in helping humanity. After all, you are part of it, so why not take part in it?

A pretty well written post. Even beside the subject matter, holmes' points are very detailed, and in general is an example of very good prose.

Re: holmes in the police violence thread
Seconded.
I especially appreciated the rejection of NJ's mischaracterization of peaceful civil disobedience as a "mob of angry individuals."
